Question About Snaps

Thread Starter
This may be a very silly question...

I prefer to make my own pocket diapers, and DS is at a stage where he can open the aplix on them. I'm interested in snaps, specifically the resin ones, but I don't have a snap press.

I do, however, have a snap 'tool,' which basically aligns the snap inbetween plastic plates and you hammer it on.

Can I hammer on resin snaps, or do I need an big, expensive press?

TIA!

You can't hammer plastic snaps. You *can* use a drill press (or modified arbor press) with the snap press dies, or I have heard that you can use a 4" C-clamp and snap press dies (and patience).

I have a drill press that I use as a snap press. It works really well If you have access to a drill press, I'd be happy to take some more pics and put together a little tutorial.

Metal snaps will *work* for dipes, but they are really expensive. A snap press can always be resold as well, so don't forget to factor that in to the price

As far as buying a snap press, where is the best place to buy, and how much should I be expecting to spend?

I don't know about the BEST place to buy, but thesnapstore.com has reasonable prices.

www.wazoodles.com has snap presses with the dies and snaps for cheap right now but you have to wait for shipping. it's a promotion, I think they just started carrying them.

I wouldn't order from Wazoodle. They have awful customer service.

I can't say any more than that without violating the UA, but I have just gone through a whole fiasco with them. I won't *ever* order *anything* from them again, no matter how cheaply they are selling it.

I got my snap-press dies to use with a drill press from One Stop Diaper Shop/Very Baby
They sell their own brand, although it will work with KAM snaps (the kind most commonly found in co-ops).

The Snap Store sells KAM presses, dies, and snaps, and I've heard they have very fast shipping.
