Lauren Jane born August 20, 9:59 pm. 8lb 13 oz, 20.5 inches
short version:
after 2 days of on and off ctx 20 min apart that left me frustrated and wondering when i'd go into labor, i had a visit with my midwife monday morning and discovered i was 7cm dilated! baby was still high though, so dh and i decided to try and get her to move lower so that my labor would actually begin. ate lunch then went walking in some nearby hills. nothing changed. midwife came to our house around 6pm to set up her stuff, then left to eat dinner. 8:30pm called to tell her nothing was happening, but i had gotten in the tub to squat to see if baby would move down. as soon as dh hung up with her, i felt the baby shift into position and ctx went from 5min apart and fairly easy to 2 min apart and atleast 90 sec long. it was like somebody flipped the on switch for my labor. my midwife arrived 15 min later. over the next hour the ctx got even stronger and closer together. then came the urge to push. i never felt that with ds, man is 'urge to push' an understatement. my body WAS pushing, there was nothing i could do to stop it. 15 min later dd was born.
so after 2? 3? days of on and off false alarms, my labor was 90 min long! wow was that intense. and totally different then my slow and gradual labor with ds.
here's a pic of her less than 24 hours old...
