Who has cleaned out their deep-freeze lately?

This morning I went to get some fat for soapmaking out of the deepfreeze and got way more than I bargained for. Since it was at the bottom, I got a look at how much food had been forgotten...it was like excavating layers in an archeological dig. I feel so guilty, but I had to throw out 3 grocery bags worth of old, freezer-burned food. Some of it was moved from our last home 2 years ago! I also found 3 bags of last year's tomatoes : , and just as this year's crop is nearly ready...So besides making soap today, I'm also going to make salsa and a new menu plan to start using up some of the fresher food so that this doesn't happen again.

The house has been pretty well decluttered for months now. But somehow the freezer was forgotten (or perhaps consciously avoided! )

There's a lady on our local Freecycle group that always asks for old/freezer burned meat. She feeds her four large dogs a raw diet of, apparently, old/freezer burned meat (and something else, I think). Anyway, if you've got meat in your freezer growing old, you might see if anyone wants it on freecycle.
