Do you pay your bills online or by mail?

I do a combo...but occasionally get weird (nervous?) about the electronic access stuff.

The only thing direct debited is my car/renters insurance, which is the same every month.

We have every bill possible automatically debited from our account and it has been awesome for us - never late payments, less $$ spent on checks/envelopes/stamps, and with Dh's student loans we even got an interest reduction for it. I have less qualms about online payment (which we do only with our credit card) than I do with sending stuff via the mail.

I also do every possible bill online. I was never good at getting things in the mail on time, online bill pay has changed my life.

All online. Makes it so much easier - I agree, when I had to pay them via mail I was terrible (but I was younger too), but having it so easy makes a big difference.

The only things I write checks for are one-offs, magazine subscriptions and such (I don't like them having my credit card because they auto-renew and don't give you the best price)

We try to auto-pay as many bills as possible, especially since we travel so much. The bill just automatically charges to our credit card and we pay it off (in full) twice a month with all our other charges. Our bank also has online bill pay and I use it to send checks to all the one-time variable charges: the dentist, magazine subscriptions, etc.

Our actual checkbook is tucked away in our fire safe, we don't even carry it with us. The only person we write a check to is the lady boards our dog for us while we're away.

Online through my bank. I realized that it's completely free. We don't pay a fee to use the online service. A check/envelope/stamp costs me almost $1 a bill. That really can add up.

we pay all of our bills online. so easy and saves on checks, stamps, etc.

Online, everything but rent and daycare. I love it. It's so much easier!

Rent is a required money order, gas, phone/internet, and electric are checks b/c they charge extra for online payments--WTF?, and sattelite is autopay via ATM/debit card. Oil is paid by check when it's filled. Cell phone, when it's due, we pay over the phone with debit card--but we've had a credit forever and haven't paid in... ages.

A combo. We have two bills that are automatically taken out of our account, rent has to be a check - no option for electronically. Everything else, well, some months I do it online, and some months I write checks. I've been writing checks mainly over the past couple of months because we're moving in a couple of weeks and I wanted to use as many of our current checks as possible.

as a horrible person with keeping track of a balance i do alot of online debit payments so the money is taken right away, and never do auto pay.

If i do need a check (maybe one a month) i will get a postal money order. It costs $1.00 more but i know i wont bounce a check which can cost alot more.

I do everything online; I think it's so much easier.

We pay everything online, except rent. I have to go an manually pay them online, they are not automatically deducted, but I don't have to mail anything.

I pay everything online but only one payment is automatically deducted -- the majority I go on and set up the payments as soon as I receive the bill so that they are paid by their due date and once I've entered them online I don't need to worry about them again (although I check every now and then to be sure they've been paid).

online & love it. I'd never go back.

I write 1 check a month & that gets depostied into dh's account at another bank, then when I get home I transfer it to the HELOC to pay it down.

With the online banking I can easily add extra payments to loans & such, even if it's only $5.

We pay $6/year for it.

We use the online bill pay through our bank.

It saved us a bunch of time and money!

We pay almost everything online. Whenever possible we send the payment via credit card so that we have an extra layer of protection and earn points. Only our mortgage and the credit card payments are linked directly to the bank account.

I mail everything, but I need to look into paying them online, especially since we have very few bills now.

online, save trees!

We pay most online through a seperate checking account just for bills. The only ones I don't do are the little ones (like our $5 long distance that I pay several months in advance) and ones that I might want to adjust the amount I send, like our PCL line.

So far we've had no issues, but I fell the same as you and watch it pretty closely.
