Do you pay your bills online or by mail? - Page 2

I write 1 check a month, to our apartment manager and I hand deliver. Everything else is paid online. I love saving all that paper. We also stopped receiving the paper bills so it saves a lot.

I do a combo.
I usually pay utilities/phone by check because it's easier, CC's mostly online, rent was required to be money order or debited so we did debit then, but now that we're just getting started on this mortgage they haven't gotten anything set up for online or debit payments.

I have our home equity loan payment directly debited. And I pay my two credit cards online because then I can completely control the posting date (I am sick of them showing a posting date one day after they were due no matter when I mailed them). But everything else is paid by mail.

I use my online banking now to pay bills and keep track of what I have in there. Rent is payed in cash or cheque.

I still get paper bills, but am thinking of just asking them to send them as e-bills! Though I hate that idea but can't stand all the wasted paper with the bills,envelopes(2) and the ads they send me.

Online for the bills I can, by phone for all others. I don't have checks and stamps cost too much these days.

Everything but rent!

Everything except my mobile phone and my cc come out of one account by direct debit.

We worked out how much all our bills were and we each put a little over half that amount into that one account on payday. Anything left over (after mobile, any cc payment and savings transfer) is spends for the month for things like travel, some food/household goods, clothing. socialising etc.

I love it this way, I always know exactly how much I have left to spend.

I auto-pay my mortgage, water, phone/cable, insurance (car, homeowners, disability, life and health), gas/electric, car payment, newspaper subscription, church offering, and the contributions to our TSAs.

The onlything I write checks for are credit card bills (which I pay in full every month).

I have never used on-line banking.

I do a combination of paying bills online (mortgage, student loans, cable), by phone (credit card), writing checks (utilities), and automatic withdrawal (car and life insurances, a charity). All of our utilities bills I drop off at the actual places because they aren't far from our house and we are usually going by there anyway. It saves a stamp, though not a check.

it is very rare for us to actually put something in the mail, and frankly I am always scared it will not get there or it will be late or whatever.

We are month to monthers currently so we do not have ANYTHING on direct pay. We have almost everything set up for billpay where I cna decide the amount and the day it goes out. Sure it is still going through the mail, but it is backed up by my bank and has a lot of safeguards on it.

We are still deathly afraid of "Checks" and have not written a single one for 6+ years.

i have all my regular bills on auto-pay (mortgage, gas/electric, Internet/phone, satellite, and cell phone). I schedule my credit card bills to be direct-debited online via their website every month (I pay my credit cards in full every month, so the amount varies.)

I only write a check for my water bills (once every 3 months) and the occasional magazine subscription.

I pay online via my bank's billpayment service for anything that's not local. I also do e-bill on everything but electric (because they combined e-bill and automatic payment and I don't do automatic payments) and our water (not an option).

I don't even keep a checkbook anymore as we pay the bills via the billpay service and do cash for everything else.
