Feeling good about my decision...

As you know, I changed providers, but now I feel even better about doing so. My previous OB did a finger prick test to determine anemia. I wasn't showing symptoms so the new OB drew blood.

When I called on Friday to get my results the nurse said they hadn't come in yet and that nobody would be in the office until this coming Thursday (training) to give me the results.

The OB himself called me at 5:00pm today, A SATURDAY, to give me my results by phone and consult me on what he'd like me to do. My iron level is still low (11) but it isn't super low (8.9) like they thought...and he says there is no way the iron supplements could have brought it up that high in just 8-9 days.

So that made me feel even better about switching. Very few drs will call you themselves even in an emergency! Let alone to give me test results that were not crucial on a weekend. I'm impressed.

He sounds like a great OB! Isn't 11 borderline? Do you really have to do much about that?

He told me that he typically has his patients alter their diets (more red meat and leafy greens) with an 11. But since I was already prescribed Repliva from the previous OB and had been taking it, we agreed I'd continue taking it (expensive prescription too) until I see him again, and then we'll talk about where to go from there.

DH & I hate to have me take anything while PG so taking such a heavy dose of iron really bothers us. But it does make sense to finish the prescription since I'm borderline. *shrug*

I got my cast iron skillets the other day and DH seasoned them tonight. So that shall begin tomorrow morning.
