Placenta encapsulation

Anyone planning on doing it? I'm almost positive I will. The depression after my last baby was something I don't ever care to repeat, and if I can steer clear of the antidepressants I'd like to. Just wondering if anyone else was thinking about it. The thread in the PPD forum is fantastic.

I think YogaChick is looking into it as well. DH was going to do mine for me, but so far it looks like I can't have my placenta from the hospital. Maybe I'll take a bite of it before they take it away
We're going to try to do the tour and ask questions in Sept, so I'll try to find who's in charge of such things and start my campaign to keep it then. Maybe I can sign a release or something. What a pain.
I reallllllly wanted to do it. I had PPD last time and it's NOT fun.

i really want to do this as well, but i want to find someone to do it with me as i don't feel i need any projects to add to that time. grading term papers and having to get final grades in with a new baby sounds like more than enough for me!

in all seriousness though i have no idea how to find someone who will do this. i have a m/w appointment on wednesday and i will ask if she has any ideas.

I have to find some vegi-caps. Does anyone know of a source? I wish I still had my acupuncturist- she offered to do it for me last time.

http://placentabenefits.info/ This site has a kit you can order.

I think I'm going to have DH make me a placenta smoothie real quick after the birth and then we will refrigerate the rest and I'll have at least one smoothie per day for the first three days.

It looks like too much work to encapsulate it and I don't know if I could find someone to do it for me.

After looking at that site, oddly, I'm actually considering it. But if I remember correctly, I don't think my birth center allows you to take the placenta home. I'll have to check on that at my next appt in a few weeks. I just emailed dh to ask him if he would think I went off the deep end if I asked him to help me with this.

I am planning on it, and you can find veggie caps and capsule filling kits on ebay for cheap! I saw the placenta benefits site...but money is an issue for us and it was quite a bit more to get the kit from there.

I am not sure about how exactly we are going to work it...it does seem like a lot of work, but dh said he would help and to keep away ppd....it doesn't sound bad when you put it into perspective.

I want to do this. I'd do anything to avoid what happened last time. PPD is nothing to sneeze at.

I have a friend who would be willing to do it for me, but she's never done it before. I'm also considering sending it to Jodi at Placenta Benefits, since she knows so much about it and has an excellent system in place. She is an awesome person to talk to about it, by the way. I called her a few months ago to talk to her about it and I have great faith that she would do it with reverence.

I'm going to talk to my MW about it at my appt. this week.
