Can anyone recommend any good marriage/relationship books?

I just finished the best one I've ever read - "The New Rules of Marriage: What you need to know to make love work" by Terrence Real. Its incredible. Mothering mag had a review of it a few issues ago...I'm surprised more people haven't talked about it on here...

If you don't mind something with religious undertones (although it is VERY egalitarian), then I highly recommend _Families Where Grace is in Place_ by Jeff VanVonderen. The first half is about marriage and the second half is about parenting.

i really enjoyed John Gottman's _Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work_.

Okay, I'm ready for flames!

Despite my opinions about Dr. Laura, I thought that The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands was really good. For myself and DP it really mirrored the relationship we have/want and the gender roles of our relationship. There are parts that made me roll my eyes so hard they could have gotten stuck, but the ideas were basically good....again, if your relationship follows the gender assumptions made by the author.

And the library has it so you can take it for a test drive before you buy!

I read His Needs, Her Needs some years ago and remembered it being a really good read. I don't remember the author and I was on a totally different level in life when I read it. Even if there are things in there that I may not agree with now ( which I don't think there are) I know there's plenty of good things I *do* remember.

I have Mindful Loving by Henry Grayson. He talks about the connection we have to all other beings, and interlays that connection with other techniques to aid in the mending of relationships. He also guides you through changing any negative core beliefs that you might have. It has strengthened all relationships in my life.

I read one called The Divorce Remedy that was really good. There was no religion involved (if that matters to you...).

I am just finishing up Terrence Real's previous book How Can I Get Through To You? It is SO amazing I absolutely need to read the New Rules of Marriage next. I can't imagine what more he will write about because there is so much comprehensive information in the first book. Highly recommended.

I heard Terrence Real interviewed on the radio a few months ago, regarding this book. I was so impressed.
