Approaching 42 weeks?

Anyone else coming up to the 42 week wall? What are your plans / strategies?

For me:

EDD: Aug 17th (according to OB) August 19th (according to MW)
Today 41 weeks +- 1 day

Well I was forecasting 41-42 weeks so in that sense looks like we are on track! But 42 weeks might turn out to be some kind of cut-off (no home birth? induction with OB at the hospital?) so I guess I am hoping to go with the full moon on the 28th.

Things I am doing now:
- blue cohosh
- evening primrose oil
- DTD (first time in a few weeks last night, will try again tonight)
Waiting for midwife instructions before moving to castor oil.
Any thing else to try?

Signs of imminent labor:
- none

Family history
- I was born at 41+ weeks, my siblings too
- my sister was induced at 42 weeks

So fingers crossed for that full moon!

I'm 41w3d now, but only 41w according to my MW.

So far, I'm not doing any induction methods... except nipple stimulation for 20 minutes twice a day (just started that today). If I don't go into labor by mid-week, we'll do a biophysical profile to see how the baby's doing, and repeat that every 3 days or so until 43 weeks (if all looks good). At that point, my MW would probably not be comfortable letting things continue.

I'm also looking forward to that full moon! My son was born at 42w, so... soon, I hope.

Yeah, I'm also 41w 1 day, and have already had this one out with my doc. Apparently it's standard in my area to induce at 10 days overdue. However, I've got a cool doc and will be going at least til Friday, as that's my next doctor's appt.

I think I can talk her into waiting another week, as my dates are kind of screwy (unplanned babies are fun like that) and my cycle is really long. She had originally given me a due date of August 25, so she should be willing to discuss things at least!

I'm also showing NO signs of labour other than the odd BH. I just started EPO, and will try Castor Oil if I have to. The new CNN article that just came out is helping me hold out in the face of itching, 44% of first time moms will end up with a c-section if induced.

Not sure that DTD will help, we've been at it like bunnies (haven't done it this much since we got engaged, which was aroung when we conceived).

I'm also just frustrated with being huge, slow, itchy and sore all the time. I want a baby, NOW!

I did reflexology at 41w5d and that started a regular contraction pattern about 10 hours later (that never let up, but dragged on for several days). Jake was born at 42w1d.

Good luck to you, mamas! If I was on edge that my baby could be born "any day now" weeks 37-40, that feeling REALLY heated up from week 41 on!

First of all plum
I am at 39 weeks 4 days I am going : I cannot even imagine what you "overdue" ladies are going through (but I suspect I soon will as I have been having tons of contractions for weeks but am obviously no where near to being in labor). I am also going EPO, but very doubtful it is having an effect. I really just think this babe wants to cook. Frustrating - but DH snapped me back to reality because I was complaining about the babe not coming out and DH started kidding about induction. So I laughed with him, but didn't really take him seriously. However, apparently he WAS serious. In the car later, he was like "So seriously, what about induction?" I absolutely freaked out on him. I was like, "I see no reason to induce until we HAVE too which isn't for at least 2 more weeks. I am NOT going to put my body and my baby through something neither are ready for just because I feel impatient" End of discussion.

That being said, I'd still like to see this babe before the end of the month.

So hats off to all of you mommas who are listening to and trusting your body and your baby. It is a super hard thing to do.

ELVS to all of us with that full moon (anyone on the west coast? Apparently you will get to see the eclipse as well!!!)

hey ladies 41weeks or so and I have lost a plug, or rather I have been looseing it for about a week. and 2 times now I have had contractions for a couple of hours that just stopped. YIKES> you would think I would be a pro this is number 5 and all the others started "naturally" but they all started differently. I just keep going to bed at night thinking well.....not today. maybe tomorrow. I dont know about anyone else but I hate being alone even though when I am not in active labor. My last 2 were REALLY quick. blah! this sucks,

I had my ds at 41 weeks 2 days- I'm fairly sure of the dd because I was charting.

I did the homeopathic version of blue cohosh, accupuncture and what kicked me into prelabor was cranio-sacral work. and lots of walking.

So no baby yet. Still cramping, having lots of show and goopy stuff. Have had a contraction of two this morning.

What really sucks is that my doula is with another client right now, who is in the process of being induced, which takes a long time... so that's been going on since last night. If I have my baby now, I'll be with the backup, who I only just met last night, and whom I don't like as much. Not for any real reason, just because I don't.

So now I don't know whether to hope for labour or not!

We may as well all set our alarms and pop out to look at the lunar eclipse tonight - if it doesn't help bring the babies at least it will be fun!

Tonight I started to get really stressed out about my todo list: how am I going to finish all these things? Could this be nesting? But it feels like I might me too stressed to actually go into labor?

I will need to relax with that moon Maybe some candlelight and music before bed....

My hubs set the alarm for the lunar eclipse tonight. I didn't see why we needed to set the alarm since more than likely I'll be at the toilet sometime during it. I've been contracting every half hour and it makes me want to pee every time so up I go...slowly, since I've been having terrible pubic pain! I thought I was in labor once already and since it wasn't really it, I'm doubtful about any contractions doing anything at all. I've been losing my mucous plug for about two weeks and bloody show since Thursday. I'm not technically due until the 30th, but my other two were born at 37 and 36 weeks...so this is new! Hang in there over due mamas!
