Am I the only one that cant believe the school year is starting already? We follow a school year like the public school system (in part because we and/or DS spend a lot of time out of state during the summer/holidays) and I just cant believe the year is starting. I still dont even have any of my supplies yet (been waiting for child support to buy our big stuff but apparently it is not coming). We're technically supposed to start today and I'm just not ready.
Guess its time to get creative with DS's studies for this first quarter.
We are not strictly scheduled curriculum people, but we had some software last year that we LOVED for the basic 4 that took care of our state requirements as far as tracking/learning daily/etc and gave us a lot more flexibility to focus planning on the extras (library time, extended learning on anything that sparks DS's interest, learning about pretty much anything that interests him beyond that couple hours of getting the "requirements" out of the way). Plus DS loved the software, as there were a lot of games, videos, bright pictures and cartoons throughout it all.
Anyways, just cant believe the summer is over already!! I wish I had the discipline to unschool (in making all of the options available) but I just dont
with a baby coming in 6 wks and another toddler, and DS himself having trouble with the lack of structure (we tried unschooling for a half of a year and the first part of last year and it didnt work out at all).
