I emptied my kids room

I was so fed up with the scattered toys (that dont get played with.) I took everything out of the room to rearrange the furniture and I dont know that I am going to put the toys back in there!

I was thinking about taking a "set" of kitchen bowls and spoons, some books to look at, some dress up clothes (a FEW), Mabye a nature table. (But the little one is 20 months and I dont know if she'd eat it. My 4 yr old would more likley put stuff in his mouth)

I am going to set them up in stations and try really hard to work with the kids on everything having its own place.

I hate toys.

I wonder what else I can find around the house to make a "station" with.

I like that plan. Now that mine are in shcool I think I'm going to clean out their toys, as well...

This is the next project on my list.

This is on my list to do this week while I am on holidays.

My boys have a walk in closet that has WAY too many toys in it right now. I am going to weed through that and then re-arrange the entire basement which is also full of toys. There are so many toys that they never play with and some that are just broken and taking up space!

Your plan sounds great!

I wanted to do this but decided to wait until the kids are in school! Honestly I don;t think they have gone into the room where we keep the toys all summer!

We have this "toy closet" that is where the kids keep all their toys. In the back are two bins filled with random toys that they never play with. I am getting rid of them tonight after the kids go to bed.

With my 3 yo, I take half her toys and put them in storage for a couple months. When I take them out and switch them she is so excited, it's like christmas every couple months. Plus it's a good time to go through them and get rid of some things.

I used to just sneak toys out of my dd's room when she was otherwise occupied, but now we go through about once a month and make a charity bag.
It goes,
me: "how about this one?" (holding up annoying or unused toy)
She: "I want that!"
me: "well, if you want to keep that one, then pick two others we can give to another kid for a present."
she: "is it their birthday?"
me: "yep."

and so on and so forth.
