curriculum in a box

I'm looking for any suggestions about curriculums. We have always loosely homeschooled, my older son is going into sixth grade and really wants to know ahead of time exactly what he needs to get done each day. Just wondering if anyone has had any positive feedback on curriculums in a box, you know a kind all in one package kind af deal. I was thinking I could look at this with my son and see if this would interest him thanks for any advice

Well...I don't use a boxed curriculum and never have. We're pretty eclectic in what we use (although a lot of it is TWTM recommended not all of it is). My eldest is also going into sixth grade this year and starting last year I bought Edu-Track to help me with this issue. I just plug in what she's supposed to do for each day of the week and then I can print weekly and/or daily checklists for her. It helps keep both of us accountable. She knows what she's supposed to do for the day without me reminding her or having to figure it out anew each day.

You plug in what you want them to do for each day of the week and then you can schedule the assignments for the entire year. It's really easy to use.

I definitely understand the appeal of a boxed curriculum, I was just offering another idea if the issue is you son knowing what to do each day.

But grade 1 for my two oldest children. It goes by week by week (and some daily) of things to do and is complete except for I think Art and Music. It is really great. I got mine from the library, but you can buy it.

Well, this might sound kind of silly at this point - it won't so much later - but what about looking through the FUN-Books catalog and picking out things that could go together to make a up his own personalized curriculum? Then he and you together could make up a plan for a schedule where he could plan on a certain time of day being when he'd spend with this or that "subject"... And that will be even more successful if it's loaded with things he happens to already be interested in.That way, he could have access to some really nice materials that he could enjoy while having the comfort of knowing what's on his schedule. Hint: Keep those times brief - he'll eventually want to do more, but in the beginning, he'll need more decompression/deschooling time than he or you have any way of realizing yet.

You might also take a look at the Oak Meadow site. They sell a complete package, or they can provide a facilitator to go with it - but they also have a "bookstore" section where you can buy just whatever materials might especially appeal to you.
