What is sherpa?

I can't get all these fabrics straight. What exactly is sherpa? Is it a type of cotton? Or is it a fiber in and of itself?

Sherpa is knit cotton stretch terry that has been brushed to be soft like cotton fleece (which is knit cotton terry that has been brushed to be fuzzy )

ETA: this site has good explainations of the different specialty fabrics: http://www.diapershop.com/index.php/...bric_glossary/

And if you'd like to get a "feel" for the fabrics, you can order a specialty fabrics sampler from Kayla's Cloth Kits on HyenaCart: http://hyenacart.com/kaylasclothkits...hp?c=0&p=59357
ETA again: I must be thinking of a different HC, because Kayla's sampler doesn't have sherpa or cotton fleece in it...if I remember who, I'll add a link!
