let's help each other organize our baby clothes! - Page 2

I love long sleeve onsies! I wore those with cotton pants for DS all the time. DS was a heat rock, so they worked great for us to cover the skin without him being too hot. Footed sleepers didn't work for us because my kids have too big of feet-especially carters. Even with giving bags and bags of clothes to my SILs when they were pregnant, I have at least 14 onsies, 14 sleepers, 7 outfits, hats, socks, etc in GN plus girl and boy clothes in 0-3. I havent even checked out my bigger sizes yet, but DS was a September baby, so I should be set if this is a boy...might need more winter girl clothes since DD was an April baby.

And I like gowns too for sleeping and easy diaper changes.

I am thinking... I wish I could waddle around in onesies all day. Just a onesie. I don't even care if it says "I am precious" on it. I would wear it! I would not have to deal with matching my clothes. I would not have to roll down the top of my maternity pants. The only thing is, my thighs. ick. I would only wear the onesie in the privacy of my own home.

I gotta get my act together- I have been getting baby gifts from people- ADORABLE batik dresses, little pairs of shoes, hats... but no onesies. I gotta nail down the people who want to give me stuff so I can take an inventory...

i keep hearing this --

How is a gown -- that up have to push up under the baby's back to "find the butt" easier for a diaper change than an oneie that you un-snap 3 snaps and push up a little -- not as much bunched up cloth -- and snap back?

no snark -- just wondering --

Maisiedotes, do I have the website for you! The stuff actually looks really comfy, but I agree, I could never wear anything like this outside the house!

ETA: I was thinking sleeper, not onesie! Oops. I'm sure they make adult onesies, but umm, probably for a different kind of website...I don't really want to put "adult onesie" in a search engine.

I am one of those hyper-organized people, so I have all of DD's clothes in tubs labeled by size. Yesterday I washed it all and put it into drawers and the closet for baby #2. I'm so excited!

Here's what I have from last time. I don't think I'm going to buy any more, just a coming-home outfit:

4 white t-shirts (over the head)
5 white side-snap t-shirts
(t-shirts are great for not pulling on the umbilical cord)
8 white short-sleeve onesies
10 white long-sleeve onesies (I LOVE Carter's stuff--such great quality!)

5 printed/colored onesies
6 sleep-and-plays (long-sleeve, footed)
3 sleepers (long-sleeve, footed)
2 gowns (never used them last time but what the heck)

2 Swaddle Mes (totally indispensible!)
2 sleep sacks (never used them--used the Swaddle Mes instead)

10 pairs of socks
no shoes
10 hats
4 pairs of booties
4 pairs of mittens (just for not scratching themselves--is that what they're called?)

outfits we got as gifts:
6 fleece/sweater/heavy knit outfits (long-sleeve, footed)
4 "real clothes" outfits like shirt with knit overalls or just soft long-sleeve thing

too many blankets to count--really you need a light one and a heavy one, and maybe one more. I never used receiving blankets except to roll them tightly and use them to position her properly in her car seat.

12 Gerber diapers for burp cloths

2 towels (IMO, hooded is totally not necessary)
8 wash cloths

I forgot about this one! Other than big feet, our biggest problem with a couple of the kids were long legs. They wore different sizes on top and bottom forever, it seems.

Also, I love long sleeve onesies! I see Old Navy has some on sale at their maternity/baby area of their site.

In the middle of the night, a simple gown to push up was much easier than pulling the legs out of a sleeper, then pulling the sleeper up, and re-snapping all the snaps. My long legged boys required my unsnapping all or almost all the snaps on the whole outfit to get their leg out without twisting it.

Onesies alone won't be warm enough at night, so I will be using sleepers or gowns.

Oh my gosh! That's so funny! I would always worry someone would see me or my kids would tell everyone, but they look super comfy!

That and some of the "convertible" gowns -sleep to gown, you can unsnap and not have to pull up at all for a quick change (non-poopy). I think resnapping a sleeper in the middle of the night is some kind of mother torture.

Seriously! This had me laughing and brought back memories of practically falling over on baby as I am trying to get my shaky, half numb hands to re-snap while I am feeling sick from being so sleep deprived and given sickening jolts of adrenaline when the baby wakes.

If only you could shut off the pee button during the night so you only had to feed but not change diapers also!

Grand Pat -- my mom -- hates them day time too -- running joke in our home is how many tires it took her to get the snaps all lined up.
