Does anyone feel like they aren't big enough?

After looking at belly pictures, I feel like I am not big enough. I ran into a friend the other day who said "OMG, you are 26 weeks? You look much smaller!" I was very small all along last time (but those were unusual circumstances). I want a big baby. I am on the chunky side to begin with- started off about 20 lbs overweight, and have gained about 15 lbs..

Anyone else feeling kinda small? Oh- and it is definitely only in the belly. I am feeling huge in the butt and thighs...

Yes, as a matter of fact I do! I'm glad you started this one -- I've been thinking about this lately. I was looking at belly pictures and thinking I'm WAY smaller. But... I'm measuring right on schedule and my midwives sure haven't said anything. So..... I guess maybe that's just how we are.

I was WAY bigger at this time with my son, so I don't know what's going on.

And I'll second that about the butt and thighs -- I was trying to figure out the other day if my butt or belly was bigger. I think the butt won out.:

Anyhow, I'm sure as long as you're HCP isn't worried, you shouldn't be either.

Sigh. No. I've had two people (both men) comment, "Wow, not until November? That's going to be one BIG baby."

At least no one is asking if I'm having twins.... yet.

I've always measured on target and had babies three weeks early that were 7.2, 7.2 and 7.14 (so they COULD have been close to 9 pounds at full term) and I always look small. It's just how my body is built! Even when I was at my lowest weight, I didn't even LOOK pregnant until 7 months and never got huge.

I was so small my last pregnancy that a friend took me aside and expressed concern for the baby. He was 8 pounds at birth. I was really worried about how small I was, I even asked the doctor and he said some women are just like that.

This time I am huge. I liked it when I was smaller!

As long as you are measuring on target, I would not be concerned. Some women have stronger ab muscles, which help to hold the uterus inside the body. Others have weaker ab muscles, so the uterus "pops out" of the budy more. Also, women with a small frame don't have space inside the body cavity for the baby to grow, so small-framed women tend to get big bellies. Women with a larger frame are able to house more of the baby inside the body, so less of the uterus protudes. Don't worry--its the internal measurements that count, not the external visual!

I think it depends on what I'm wearing. I feel like I'm big. But I keep getting comments about how small I am, and how much smaller I am this time around, but then the other day I got a "Wow, your really getting huge!":

I would second that size probably depends on what you are wearing and body type. I am short and have a "short torso" (learned this while shopping for a bridesmaid dress and the sales clerk told me 10 times how short my torso is--gee, thanks). So, the baby popped early and big. When I am wearing black my husbeand swears I look 3 months less pregnant.
Everyone tells me that my belly is big (but luckily, only one strangeer has done this--somehow its nicer when it comes from friends). But, I am measuring on schedual in terms of uterin size--so I think its all realative to your height/ frame.

well, I feel like i'm big! but with other people, it varies widely.. my chiro thought i was due a whole month before i really am, but then i have other friends who think that i'm barely showing. according to the midwives, i'm measuring about a week or two ahead, just like i did with my other two pregnancies.

Me! Well, I feel like I'm just right, but everybody else thinks I'm way too small. Or they think I look so "cute" and wish they could look that way pregnant. Yeah, the basketball in the belly might look cute, but I've still gained 20+ lbs. in 6 months and my back sure doesn't appreciate the sudden increase in size out front.

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. My mom never even wore maternity clothes w/me and when she left work at 8 months, one of the bosses had no idea she was even pregnant!

I think part of my problem is that I wear an apron at work- it is a big apron, I put it on over my head and it is straight down from my boobs to my knees, so people can't see the belly. It just looks like my boobs stick out and the apron hangs down from there.

I have noticed my maternity jeans fitting better (I was not filling up the waist very well before- but oddly I was filling up the rear end just fine! I think I may be carrying the baby in my butt and thighs. Nobody would doubt that if I told them...
