Heartburn help?

OMG...I am doubled over in pain... It started as just a little discomfort right behind my sternum and now it's my entire stomach! Ugh.

Any suggestions? Please don't say ginger ...it makes me ill because I ate so much of it trying to soothe the hyperemesis with dd1. I still can't even eat it when I'm NOT pregnant...7 years later.

I don't have any tums in the house. Any other secret remedies I should know about?

I'm going to go get some papaya tomorrow, but how will I get through the night?

Chew gum if you have any around. Chew like a fiend! The saliva will help neutralize the acid.

Milk or ice cream might help since you're out of tums, too.

Thanks, Mama.

Gum is just not something I keep around for some strange reason...

I can't have any dairy or soy cuz dd2 is allergic and still breastfeeding...but, maybe I'll go make a rice milkshake and see if that helps...

This won't help for immediate relief, but the only way I can control heartburn is by eating much smaller meals. I just eat a couple hundred calories' worth of food every few hours throughout the day. My stomach seems unhappy with too much or too little to digest.

Of course, this means my primary activities during the day revolve around preparing, eating, and cleaning up food, but that's not terribly different from my pre-pregnancy life.

Oh yes yes!!! Papaya enzyme tablets. Trust me they work miracles I probably went through about 15 of them yesterday alone, but that was my fault for eating something with hot peppers.

You can get them at any health food or vitamin store and they are completely natural and safe. I'd never even heard of them before this pregnancy, and lived off of tums for the other two, but I like these so much better. Oh, and just a heads up, you chew them... I had been swallowing them like pills until a gf pointed out that they wouldn't really help me that way :

I have never heard of the payapa remedy before. I am going to the health food store today and picking those up! So glad this thread was started as my heartburn is getting out of control!
