Could you homeschool for free? - Page 2

i think it is totally do-able to spend very little on homeschooling......maybe even free.

Things we do:
Make personalized birthday/Christmas lists for family/friends who ask for it. Sometimes includes things like ink cartridges, pencils, drawing paper, art supplies, certain books, etc.

Check with freecycle

There are yahoo groups for free homeschooling stuff.....like a swap group.

Library

Internet

Share resources with another family

That is off the top of my head....will post more later if I think of it.

One of my DDs learns best when information is presented in neat little chunks. She needs reviews and doesn't make big leaps. She liked Explode the Code because it made sense to her.

My other Dd learns in quite the opposite way. She liked ETC because her big sister used it. She stuck with it as long as her sister used it, and then completely lost interest in it.

yes I do believe it possible to hs for free. the paid curriculum is not absolutely necessary. I've gotten away with only spending very little actually. Now, my mom has bought a few things for us that will last for years (math manipulatives) but I look online for math sheets or activities, make up my own stuff.

There is a book full of links "Homeschool Your Child For Free". It has links to a ton of stuff Your library probably carries it so you don't even have to buy the book!

I think that yes, it is possible to hs for free. I prefer to spend a little money to make things easier for myself (ready made worksheets as opposed to writing it all down on a piece of paper) but when we're broke (like now ) I remember that you don't need to spend to hs.
