if you had the option would send your child to a class with 95% same sex students (if they were in majority? what about minority?), if they were miniority would you try to switch their class, or a class with a close to 50/50% ... if you choose 50/50, what would you do if you were in the first situation.

My son has always been in the minorty

There were originally 12 or so girls and 3 boys.

Now it's 10/2.

The three boys are very tight and the remaining two are insererable. It does help that they have a lot in common and are on the same wavelength.

The original three bonded in preschool.

With different kids it might not have worked out.

ratio of girls to boys doesn't matter much to me.

in Tirza's grade there are more girls than boys. It is like that in the entire city, more girls were born that year. All the schools have more girls than boys in those classes. When Tirza was in K, there were 5 boys & 13 girls.

It depends on the child. My DD was 1 of 3 girls in her class (up until grade 2 when she became HS - and yes, it was a small factor)- and it was a problem. She liked the other girls, but did not share their interest in soccor, etc. There were some lovely boys in her class, but she wanted to play with girls.
