Doppler carry/storage bag?

My doppler arrived today and I'm trying to figure out what I want to use for a carry case. I have my stetho, measuring tape, and gestational wheel in a cotton drawstring bag, but I'm paranoid about the doppler being damaged (maybe I'm just being too anal about it since it's my first and it's new).

It measures 3 1/2" wide by 5 1/4" tall by 1 1/2" thick. I'm going to dig through my purses/bags but I don't think I have anything that would really afford any protection.

TIA...

Mine travels in a little bubble wrap baggie in whatever carry-all I am using at the time.

I found something at Joann Fabrics in with the sewing stuff. Its a padded, zippered carrying case and its just big enough to hold my doppler, gel, and the manuel. It was under $10.

I remember seeing an old post where someone said she carries her doppler in a plastic bag so she doesn't get her unit wet during waterbirths. Bubble wrap is good.

I guess I'll have to shop around then!

I did start browsing around eBags and some other websites and came across the Built NY stuff. I think the lunch tote would make a cool bigger bag and the no. 11 electric pocket might be big enough for the doppler but I'm not for sure. I'm going to have to go shopping and see what I find!

depends on the size you want- I carry 2 coolers that are soft sided- one has my prenantal stuff in it including the doppler and gel, spare batteries and a fetalscope , gloves, a plastic disposable speclum, bp cuff and steth, wheels, cups and pee sticks, measuring tape vitamins and tylenol for me, charts on top-- the doppler is nesseled in on one side and toward the center - everything is padded so it helps--
I have looked at the soft sided game holder pouches and they look like some of them would work --

I carry mine in a little bag that used to be a shoulder purse. One of the straps broke, but the velcro still remains inside on the top. It fits my doppler, gel and measuring tape. It's a beautiful material, but isn't padded. I guess if you don't throw it around it won't get damaged.

I'm not sure if it's big enough so I'm kinda reluctant to order it online. The only store that I know of around here that sells Built NY is Bed, Bath & Beyond... I dunno if they'd carry that part of the line or not.

Since I ordered a Built NY lunch tote last night to carry the prenatal stuff (: that it's a good size for it), I may be alright with putting it directly in the lunch bag since it's neoprene and affords a bit of protection. The doppler is the heaviest thing in there, and the probe snaps in well enough that it's protected a bit that way too.

Thanks for sharing everyone!

I would sheck out some different camera (digital or video) carrying cases. I know you are really limited down where you are though... Maybe one of the camera shops in B-ton would have something. There is the one on Kirkwood that has a nice big selection.

Oh and congrats on getting to go to births!!!

Good idea, Cord might have something. You're right, limited selection, though I'll be up in Indy for the October workshop(s) so I could possibly wait and shop then.

I'm excited, just waiting for someone to go into labor when I'd be the one getting the call. It just clicked that you have the boy stork in your siggie!

Ya know, I should be studying right now.

Yup we are expecting again which has put most of my midwifery goals on hold...

Are you going to the workshop on the 17th of Oct.? I'm hoping to make it to that one... maybe we'll see eachother there!!

Mine came with a bag. But I think I might get a makeup bag. I have a padded one for my camera.
I like to slip the doppler into a ziploc lab bag to offer a little more protection at water births. My husband fixes broken dopplers for people, and they all have corrosion around the on/off button from people touching it with wet or gel-y hands. So that's what I'm trying to help.
