This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

It could be ppd. PPD doesn't always present itself right away. Mine got increasingly worse, and I experienced many of those anxiety type symptoms to. I did not get meds, but in retrospect, *I* needed them. I was not a great mother during that time and with this pregnancy, my midwife has been forwarned, and will be on the lookout for me. I didn't really do much of anything, natural/homeopathic, I just tried to ignore it and 'get better' on my own. Not smart. So far, from my research, fish oils amd B vitamins are helpful with depression. So I will be stocking up on those for sure! Meds will be a last resort. HTH

so first, the psi (postpartum support international) website is very helpful- i think it's http://postpartum.org. second, what you're describing sounds to me like ppd- it can take the form of anxiety, ocd, paranoia, intrusive thoughts, etc., things that you described. the psi website will link you to a support group in your area (they seem to be in most areas) that is peer lead and free. a word of ... i don't want to say caution, but i guess just to let you know- most of us have had great success on some form of med and you will probably be at least asked if you are on or would consider. i feel like this comes from a place of support (if you are on or do decide to take a med) not with an intention to push. my experience with my group has been that they ask and when you are clear about your intentions, which it sounds like you are, they are a great resource for alternatives. there's also something about talking face to face with someone who's been through the same thing and to know that there's a light at the end of the tunnel.
the other thing that i would highly recommend is acupunture. i did this while pregnant and had great success. i think i saw the doctor 4 times and was "cured." it's short term (i spent $220 on all 4 sessions) and no cps worries.
the other things i have done (that i believe have kept me on a low dose of med) are exercise (20-30 minutes of cardio each day), good sleep (my dh takes the kids 3 of 7 nights each week and i sleep where i sleep best), b's and omegas, eating 6 small meals a day (to keep the blood sugar on an even keel) and asking for help when i need it.
if you determine you need to go on meds, i will be happy to share my experience and be of whatever support you would like. i completely understand the concern with breastfeeding.

I have been where you are and I am glad that you are reaching out. I agree with the PPs. It sounds like PPD and it is best treated as soon as possible. I have tried vitamins, meds, lifestyle changes and more. Please feel free to PM me if you need an ear or any more specific info.
Good luck. You can make it through this.
