Cloth Diaper Buy/Sell/Swap Party

Hey all,
I am going to host a Diaper swap on March 2nd at Kneading Time. The exact time is yet to be determined... it will be in the afternoon, please check posts later.
You are invited to bring any dipes you would like to sell or trade, and of course you can come just to buy also!

Please bring items already marked with your asking price; include any accessories like wet bags, snappis, etc. also maked with prices. Bring your check book or lots of small bills for ease of financial transactions.

We have plenty of hip cd'ing mommas out there who would love to help you grow your stash as well as sell off their unused item in order to buy more... it's so addictive!!! Of course, helpful tips and useful information will be running amuck as well as our babies, Yes kids are welcome as long as you keep an active eye on them (Kneading Time is not completey childproofed).
This event will bo a co-operative effort by all. Invite anyone you think might be interested, all are welcome!

La Leche League of Dayton Special Meetings Notice

La Leche League of the Dayton area is holding some special meetings over the coming months. We have been fortunate to get Tracey Merkle, area nutrition expert, to come and do 4 lectures which are always informative. Here's the schedule:

Feb. 26-Dairy and Soy and the problems with them w/Tracey Merkle
March 25- Couples meeting
April 29- Allergy Season w/Tracey Merkle
May 27- Ear infections, colic, and thrush w/Tracey Merkle
June 24- Toddler meeting
August 26- Pre/post natal nutrition and the introduction of solids w/Tracey Merkle

The meetings with Tracey will begin at 7:00pm at Corinth Presbyterian Church. The Couples and Toddlers meetings will begin at 6:00pm and will be a potluck of some kind; I will post more details about this later. These meetings are open to dads or anyone else that is interested in these topics.

If you would like to attend a meeting that Tracey is lecturing on an RSVP is requested. Please call the Back to Health Center office at 433-3241 to let them know you plan to attend so that enough handouts can be available.

La Leche League of Dayton Breastfeeding Celebration

Ladies!

La Leche League of Dayton is having our third Breastfeeding Celebration on Friday May 9 at 6:00 pm at Delco Park in Kettering. We are very excited and have lots of great donations that we will be holding a silent auction and raffle for. Some of the items include: a one year supply of Organic Valley milk, Baby Trekker carrier, gifts from Hyland's, Milk Diapers, MotherEase, Mothering Magazine, MotherLove Herbal, Pamela's Products, Blue Turtle Toys, Olympia Health Foods, Trader Joe's, plus too many others to mention, including several baby slings. This will be a fun family event with refreshments and door prizes. A playground is right by the picnic shelter so bring the family, including dads, and get some great stuff for Mother's Day while supporting La Leche League's mission of helping mothers breastfeed their babies. All funds raised will support local Groups.

We have the Mayor coming to sign a proclamation making May 9, 2008 La Leche League Day, Kettering's Police and Fire Departments coming with a squad car and fire truck, and lots of great things that we have to raffle and auction off. The Celebration is from 5-8 at the picnic shelter!

LLL of Toledo

LLL of Toledo has two separate meetings each month:

Daytime Group meets 2nd Wednesdays of each month at 10am at St. James Lutheran Church on Sylvania Ave. between Corey and Talmadge.

Evening Group meets 3rd Tuesdays at 6:30pm. Also will be meeting at St. James (see above). Meetings at St. James will begin in December.

When you park at St. James, you will be behind the church, go to the door furthest to your left--the meeting is in the lounge just inside that door on the left.

The Toledo Area Babywearers group meets the second Thursday of the month for day time meetings and the third Thursday of the month for evening meetings. We meet at different libraries around the area.

Dayton OH Local Swap!

I am hosting a swap in the Dayton, OH area on January 16th at 2 pm.

This is a big swap, where we can get rid of things we don't need anymore and get things we do. The model that I really want to copy is from the website www.swapmamas.com. The idea is that I will put out my items, and somebody will take one or more of my things, and then I will find some things that I need. Please remember that if you're bringing items, that means you are okay with somebody else taking them home, even if they don't have something you want. Hopefully there will be enough giving and trading combined that everybody can leave happy. If anybody has any more suggestions as to rules or guidelines, I'd love to hear them.

This will probably be most successful if we can limit the kids to only those that need to come. If you can't leave your children at home, then let me know so that I'll have an idea of how many kids to expect so we can keep it under control. They most likely won't be able to play outside because it will be freezing, but we'll try to set up an area for them inside. If you can leave them at home with somebody else, that is encouraged.

I'll have access to the building at 2 pm, so I'll arrive then and start setting up. I'll probably stay for a few hours, we'll say until 5 pm. Any of these specifics can change as the time gets closer, and I can gage the responses and the weather (it will be January, so here's hoping it's not a blizzard day!). I'll send out a reminder in the beginning of January to start getting your stuff organized! Make sure you put it on your calender now, so that you don't forget!

Here are the rules! If you don't like them, let me know beforehand and we'll work on it. This is just the idea I have for now:

1. Bring clean, gently used items only. Anything is welcome that you don't want anymore - kid and adult clothes, household items, books, movies, anything!

2. Each guest receives one swap coupon for each item brought to the swap party. (I may use tickets - still deciding how to do this. Also may do more tickets for more expensive items).

3. No “swap shopping” can begin until the hostess announces that all of the merchandise is ready for browsing.

4. Start shopping! You may take as many items as you have coupons.

5. If two people both want the same item, put names into a hat and draw. The winner gets the item!

6.There is to be no money exchanged!

Springboro La Leche League to start in February!

Hi Ladies!

We are very excited to announce that a Springboro La Leche League Group is about to be started in February 2010! We will begin on Tuesday February 9 at 7:00 pm at the Springboro Municipal Building in the Community Room. Meetings will be held the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00. We encourage you to bring your babies and meet some other breastfeeding mothers in the community!

Breastfeeding celebration in dayton

La Leche League of the Dayton Area is once again hosting a Breastfeeding Celebration on June 4 at 5:00pm at Delco Park in Kettering. We will meet at the Picnic Shelter at the far end of the park. Please bring a dish to share and your family/friends! Kettering Police and Fire Dept's will be making some visits during the event, too!
