My beautiful baby girl Ella is here, born August 26th, 8lbs 14oz.
It is a long story, but I had planned a home water birth, but ended up having an induced hospital birth.
I was getting close to 42 weeks when I had a biophysical profile done as requested by my midwives. The ultrasound revealed an enlarged kidney and possible heart abnormality that everyone was being really vague about. It was decided I needed to have a more controlled birth because of this, and deliver at a hospital with a NICU just in case. I was able to be induced and go into labor by only breaking my water and using a breast pump, which I much preferred to pitosin. Overall I had the best hospital birth I could ask for, which I am grateful for.
The good news is that Ella is fine, and although she does have a small dilated vessel in her heart, according to my pediatrician and the cardiologist who read the ultrasound it should be something that goes away on it's own.
It was an emotional few days finding out that my child may have something wrong, and that my home birth that I was so looking forward to was not going to be a reality. Of course I am beyond relieved to have her safe and sound in my arms!
