Has anyone tried making a cover by sandwiching the polyurethane film between two fabrics? I was wondering how well that works and holds up but couldn't find any posts about it.

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

I haven't ordered any and haven't tried it, I can't think of anyone I know of on diaper-sewing boards who have tried it (the shipping is outragous on it!).
But I would assume it would work just as well as the PUL AIOs I made from Wazoodle PUL that de-laminated. They work alright. It just won't work for a pocket diaper or a 1-layer cover, it has to be sandwiched in between two fabrics.

So is the wazoodle PUL not good?
I didn't realize the shipping on the film was high, I just thought it was strange that I couldn't find anyone with any experience with it.
Thanks!

Wazoodle makes their own PUL and attaches the laminate film to the polyester knit with an adhesive. The "shiny" side is *very* shiny, and the adhesive looks like webbing (like interfacing). **Supposedly**, it is stronger than PUL made the normal way (where the laminate film is basically melted onto the backside of the polyester knit and adheres to the fabric), and they claim that in order for the laminate film to detach, you would have to stretch the fabric "far beyond its spec".
But it wasn't stretching that made mine delaminate, it was washing and drying. The adhesive just dried up and crumbled, detaching the laminate film from the polyester knit. It's not a big problem for AIOs and 2-layer covers, because the laminate film is protected by fabric on both sides. But the film in the pocket diaper I made ripped while stuffing it.
If you buy large quanties (as in a whole bolt), Wazoodle does sell "fine film PUL" which is basically the same as what everyone else sells.
But given my experience with Wazoodle and their total lack of customer service (or honesty), I would never order from them again.

I had a problem with wazoodle, my own mistake, I ordered the wrong stuff, it was untouched and I contacted them as soon as it arrived and I realized what I'd done, and they never even got back to me, which I found to be very unprofessional and a crappy way to keep customers ($20 worth of the wrong size, that still, months later, sits unused..). That was the last time I ordered from them. I didn't realize other people have had issues with them as well. I haven't not had the problem of my pul from them de-laminating, but I also line-dry my covers and pockets, so perhaps that's why. Speaking of, I've currently had an issue with celtic cloth not getting back to me about a mistake as well.. sigh. I've resorted to co-ops for pul from now on.
Thanks for the info on Wazoodle. I am holding off on PUL for not because it looks like my youngest may not do so well with it but we'll see. Thanks again!

: At first I couldn't get a response about returning it, but they finally refunded my $91 to my CC. They were supposed to email me return instructions, but still haven't, so now I have 13 yards of fabric I can't use and have been refunded for but have no way of knowing how to send back! The other "big" site, One Stop Diaper Shop, has always given me good customer service, but they're constantly closed for "family time" and various website problems. I've never ordered from Celtic Cloth, but I've looked at things on their website. I had emailed about ordering a sample, but they never emailed back...I guess I won't be ordering from either!
Someone could make a lot of money by opening a diaper-supply website that was always open, had stuff in stock, and provided good customer service!

with celtic, I ordered something, wrong stuff came (someone elses stuff). $50 worth of girly stuff, I have a boy.. tried to call several times a day for two days, left messages, then look at there site and they're gone on vacation (but wasn't when I got the wrong stuff and began calling). It's a crappy way to do business, if you ask me, to NEVER answer the phone. So then about 5 days later MY stuff shows up, shipped on the same date as the other stuff, only the shipping for MY stuff was $3 less then what I was charged (I was charge for the shipping on the bigger order that wasn't mine). IDK what the heck happened, but I still have this stuff sitting in my house, she hasn't contacted me about returning it. And really, as far as she knows, I didn't receive my stuff at all.. and she's still not contacting me back. So, she's out $50 worth of material and had to pay extra shipping out of her pocket to reship to the person who's stuff I got. I can't decide how much longer to give her to contact me before I use/sell this crap that's sitting in my living room. Co-ops seem the way to go. I paid $5.99 a yard w/ shipping and co-ops feeds to the organizers. I'll have to pay shipping from her to me, but that's still a steal compared to nearly $9yd plus the ridiculous shipping charges.

OK, maybe bc I'm local, I want to say Wazoodle has always been fantastic for me... I've gotten PUL, grab bags, all my Aplix (cuz there's nowhere else in town selling anything other than nasty store-brand velcro), everything.
Plus, they're so quick about processing my orders, no matter how small and stupid, so I can send dh to pick it up (I confess, I've never been there in person!). On Thursday, after my first order in a while, they even phoned to say they were closing early so he had to come before 4 pm or on Friday.
Anyway, dunno why they've given you mamas such a hard time. I'm sad to hear it bc they've always been super-professional in my experience. :-(
(can't speak to the PUL lasting, though, bc I never ended up needing it...switched to fleece for mama pads)

I didn't get my order for THREE WEEKS after I ordered it. I thought at first "oh, maybe it got held up in customs coming from Canada..." NOPE! They shipped it from their warehouse in Buffalo NY! And when I had emailed after a week of no shipping updates, I was told it had already been shipped, but when it did finally arrive, the shipping label said it was shipped two days after I got the email saying it had been shipped. But they charged my CC the day after I put in my order...so I know it wasn't some kind of delay in receiving or processing the order.
Other mamas on DSD have had the same problem, and one *never* got her order or a reply to her emails or answers to her phone calls.
I just think it's bad business policy to treat some customers one way and other customers another way...some people say nothing but good things about them and don't understand how anyone could have a problem, and others (like me!) will never order from them again because of an awful experience.
