Tell me about your healthy, on-the-go snacks! (x-posted in nutrition)

I am in need of some new quick and easy snack ideas for throwing in my bag and taking to the park, etc. Dd (5.5) is a good eater and I'm not so worried about her, but for ds (3), snacks pretty much are his meals. Therefore, I need healthy snacks, but at this point I also don't have tons of time to prepare special snacks.

So, what are your dc's favorite park snacks?

We usually do carrots and grapes and lots o' water...

nuts, raisins, grapes, carrots, PBJ

In addition to all of the previous suggestions, we also like fruit leathers.

We do a lot of the same, kids are still young so no nuts and raisins but
plain pasta
cream cheese and jelly on whole wheat or pita
string cheese
cut up cucumber and pepper with hummus in another container
cut up fruit, and if i don't have fresh then little cups of no sugar apple sauce or fruit leather also
little containers of yogurt
***remember spoons

when i'm lazy or don't have fresher things or if i dont' feel like dealing with ice packs, dry stuff like healthier versions of ritz crackers, cookies, cheese crackers, pretzels, bagel chips, etc.

dehydrated strawberries (from Trader Joes )

rice crackers (go to an asian market in your town if there is one, they'll usually have a dizzying array of different flavors)

pieces of nori seaweed (dd looooooves these, they're so good for you, and very portable...just make sure you transport them in an airtight bag or they'll go stale)

fruit (cut up watermelon, grapes, blueberries)

cereal (dd likes mighty bites)

dried fruit: currants, raisins, cranberries

-Pitas with fillings like PB & honey, hummus, veggies...
-Edamame
-Cut veg with little pots of dressing
-Fruit leather
-Munchie Seeds
-Sesame Snaps
-Crackers
-Steamed Chinese buns
I second the idea of Japanese snacks, we always get lots of those and they are so often packed in a really cute way too!

I also have a baking business so she gets homemade cookies, muffins and the like.

We love those "Just Veggies" snacks. DS's favorites are carrots and peas.

i am a lazy snack maker. I buy a lot of easy to toss snacks to keep in the car or my bag. DS doesn't do wheat or dairy, so we have "Enjoy Life" snack bars, homemade muffins (I buy The Cravings Place pre-packaged mix and just add stuff to it). DS also loves dehydrated fruit, the crispy kind. There is a brand at Whole Foods that sells individual packages that are easy to tote, the pear kind is especially "yum. Fruit Leather, Snap Pea Crisps, Tings, Nuts, bananas...

I also keep some Back to Nature brand wheat crackers in indvidual packs.

If I have time ( or remember) I will pack grapes, carrots or apples.

I have a permanant snack bag in my car with organic juice boxes child size water bottles and individual snacks.

I love the idea of a permanent snack bag JBaxter.

We usually have fruit leather, nuts or sunflower seeds, crackers (but not too many or that's all they'll eat), raisins.

I buy lots of small apples and my kids love eating them whole, which makes it REALLY easy to just toss a few into my bag when we head out the door.

We also do lots of...
crackers
nuts
dried fruit
grapes
baby carrots
dry cereal
granola bars (I like the Kashi ones, they're chewy without being totally unhealthy)

We usually just take nuts (mostly raw almonds & walnuts - occasionally pecans) and dried fruit (dates, raisins, a few cranberries, apricots & sometimes prunes).

Occasionally, I'll throw in a few pretzels or crackers...maybe some Cheerios if we're low on other things.

I rarely take fresh fruit or veggie sticks, because I just stuff everything in a Zip-Loc and don't want to worry about things going bad. If I do take fruits and veggies, it's usually apple wedges, carrot sticks or baby carrots, sugar snap peas, celery, grapes or grape tomatoes - just one or two of those at a time.

The kids have a water bottle of their own, with a sippy cup type lid, so I just make sure to fill that whenever we go out.

ETA: I take granola bars, if I've got a batch in the house. I don't buy any of the commercial ones, but do make my own sometimes.

My kids' favourite snack is "Mix" which is a sort of trail mix with whatever I have in the house right then. They especially love making their own. We use: raisins, dried cranberries, sunflower seeds, dried apricots, dried peaches, almonds, granola, etc.

Hey, thanks all for the suggestions! I see we all do a lot of the same kinds of snacks, but there are some new things in these posts that I hadn't thought of before. Muchas gracias!!!

I love that Just Tomatoes place...never heard of it before, but now I want to try it! Any specific suggestions?
