September Decluttering Challenge!

Thread Starter
I know we have another day, but I figure I will get started if I post it now! I met my August goal at least 10 days ago, and am losing steam (read: sitting on my rear and haven't done anything since).

My goal this month is 300 items

I'm in. Goal is 200.
ok I am in too, I am going to say 250 items..
I'm new here & think this is a great challenge for me. As this is my first time in -- I'll try for 150.

I'm going to start now...I'm off!

Perfect timing! I am in the midst of a major overhaul here. Kinda a spiritual cleansing after finallyreleasing my DH. (soon to be ex) I am gonna aim for 500 items as I have toys and clothes and papers galore to trash. (or donate as far as the clothes go anyway)

Ooh I have to be in this one! I have a boxes and bags full of stuff on my back porch that I have to make DH haul off. I think there are probably 200 items back there almost ready to go.

Problem: I still need to purge so my goal is to get at least 100 more items out of the house.

So my totals for the month: 300 items

Oh yeah I'm ahead I guess. I just hauled off stuff today (probably about 40-50 items). An umbrella baby stroller, a box full of newborn outfits and bottle nipples, and a large garbage bag of maternity clothes. I took them to a preggo friend.

I'm not going to include that in my monthly totals but there's some out of my house. Yeah!

I think I'm gonna have to join this one. We are getting out first floor tiled this month so everthing needs to be moved anyway.

Since I've not done it before I'll go for 200 items.

I'm in too.

I don't have any idea how many items I'm going to purge...but I'll make a stab at 100?

I want to be systematic about this so here's what I'm tackling throughout this month. I'll change them to pink as they are done:

1. Filing Cabinet
2. Closet in the nursery
3. My clothes closet
4. My daughters' clothes
5. Garage
6. Storage Garage Outside
7. Closet in the Guest Bedroom
8. My desk
9. Kitchen Cabinets
10. Bathroom Linen Closet

Okay, I'm giving myself three days for each area.

Yahoo!! I'm glad I found ya'll.

I'll do 30 items a week to start.

I am so in! Shooting low for 200 this month. We just got rid of a TON of stuff in August so hopefully I don't have much left. LOL

I'm in. I HAVE to get my bedroom done this month, it's so bad it's dangerous. I'm going to say 100 items, but it could well turn out to be more...

I'm in too. My goal is 200 this month as I don't have a lot left to let go. My goals are to get the following decluttered and organized:
  • Under vanity in master bedroom
  • Under bathroom sink
  • Closet in master bedroom
  • Storage shed
  • Kitchen- all of it

Okay I've been busting my rear cleaning out the back porch this morning. Turns out I WAAAYYYY underestimated how much crap was back there. Keep in mind most of it was tiny baby clothes but here are the totals I have so far today:

6 big black garbage bags full totaling:
100 items, 100 items, 50 items, 125 items, 50 items, and 125 items

So total for today so far: 550 items!

Considering this I have to up my total goals for the month. I said 300 items. I suppose now I'll be brave and go for a whopping total of 1000 items as my new goal. Lets see if this can be done. (Probably as I have so many tiny items to clear; i.e. baby onesies.)

0/100

1. Filing Cabinet 1
2. Closet in the nursery
3. My clothes closet
4. My daughters' clothes
5. Garage
6. Storage Garage Outside
7. Closet in the Guest Bedroom
8. My desk
9. Kitchen Cabinets
10. Bathroom Linen Closet

Okay, today didn't get off to such a great start. But I DID sit down at the filing cabinet for a few minutes and look at it apprehensively.

That's a start, right?

We have been making MAJOR progress on our basement this past week. After 6 trips to the thrift shop with donations last month, and an 13'x8' dumpster filled from the garage, I know that I can't match August's progress again with all of September's obligations. But my goals are:

- FINISH decluttering and cleaning the basement
- at least 2 carloads to the thrift shop
- have 1 yard sale next weekend and freecycle/donate the leftovers
- 15 minutes general house organizing per day.

Last month's 10 items per day was easy to meet since we had soooo much excess, but now I'd like to concentrate on the basement this month versus counting items.

As usual, I'm in!

Since I was able to hit 500 last month, but I don't think I have quite as much purging to do this month, I'm going to go for 400. That still seems like soooo much to me, but I know that's it's not, really, especially with all of the junk that I have!

Last night, while DS was distracted by home vidoes of himself, I was able to hit an oooold box full of stuff from my teens/youth. I threw away 90 things! I also made a large pile for sale/freecycle, but I won't count that until it's actually gone. I'm so glad that I'm already on a roll for the month!

90/400
