Anyone have a low limit of what they'll accept? Do you make exceptions to your rule? Do you ever publish anything that's rejected for PV only? What do you do with things that you decide to pull?

For me, it depends on the article. If I put a lot into it, I won't accept a low offer. I've had a couple that I got low offers for that I've withdrawn. But, if it's something I write in a half hour off the top of my head, then it doesn't bother me too much.

I went through a phase where I was getting $3.00 for everything. I actually complained to AC and requested a different CM. They complied. Now I get between $4 and $5 for most things, but seldom get over $5. I just don't get high offers any more. So, I've had to adjust my expectations a little.

I've only had two articles rejected and I could see their reasoning for both and withdrew them. My goal now is to get to a clout 7 and part of that is dependent on how many articles I have published, so I am not caring about how high or low the offers and have decided to publish anything that might get rejected just so I can make my goal.

One of my rejected articles I have done nothing with. I wasn't thrilled with it anyway. The other one went to Constant Content. One of the low offer articles that I pulled went to Suite 101 and has done ok there.

Thanks for the thoughts.

After some high initials, I tend to get between $4-$5 as well. I had always thought I wouldn't accept below $4, but then I did with my alcohol piece because I thought it was op/ed-ish. I've had two rejected, one of which I pulled because I agreed that it wasn't unique, and then the other I put up anyway (the winter blues one). I just got a $3.89 offer for a Christmas piece, and it was nothing for me to write it. So, I think I should accept it because it was an off the cuff piece, but worry about sending the wrong message, that I'll work for peanuts, kwim?

Does AC usually pay for product reviews, particularly of food stuffs? I had an article turned down for upfront payment but saying they still would like to publish it.

I ended up resubmitting it non-exclusive for page views. But now I wonder if maybe I should have resubmitted it with the "product review" in the title instead in hopes of getting an up-front payment.

Yes they pay for product reviews. I am averaging a little over $4 per review and they only take maybe 10 min to write, a bit more if I have to look up something.

I think you definitely should have product review in your title. that probably is why they declined it. Did they give you a reason for the decline? what was the review on?

No biggie though, you can write more!

Nothing much to add to the conversation here.

Just catching up.

I had several (like around 10+) to read for people here. I promise I'm gonna get them done here tonight!

I've gotta figure out what I want to do with that article about BWing that got declined because it was to common.

Whoo-hoo! I got my highest offer yet for an article on cemetery transcription.

Think I may have to work the genealogy angle a little more...

Yet another question (hope you don't mind me bombarding questions all the time).

I need a photo for my Biblical perspectives of circ. I've seen a few people site website photos. Do you know which sites it's ok to "swipe" photos from?

I did finish the circ. article and it's in my queue. Took a lot of thought on what approach I wanted to take. I tried to take a more informative approach vs. a strongly judgemental approach. My thinking is that the audience that it is intended for would be more accepting of the info if it didn't come across as excessively "left-wing." I do think anyone with a brain can get my point though.

Fyi- my "o" key is giving me trouble, frgive misspellings.

Never worry about asking questions! I just don't always have answers

I've used morgueFile. You just have to credit the author, and some ask for you to contact them after publication to let them know how their work has been used.

I am DYING for a PV update...really...the suspense is killing me! I don't expect to move to a clout 5 just yet, but I am hopeful to get close.

Fingers crossed, especially since it's a new month today! And on that note...I'm off to start a new thread!
