really raw crispy cashews?

In NT, it is recommended to soak cashews for only 6 hours, and to dry them in a 200 degree oven. This is to keep them from getting slimy. Sally says that perhaps the tendency to get slimy is because cashews have been heated and aren't truly raw.

I bought some REALLY raw cashews, that have never been heated above 115 degrees. Has anyone here ever made crispy cashews with truly raw cashews? Can I soak them longer and dry them at a lower temp. in order to preserve the enzymes? I don't want slimy nuts... but I don't want to spend extra for raw and then cook them, YKWIM? TIA.

I'm soaking them now... so ANY info from someone who has made them would be great!

It's possible that cashews don't need to be soaked as long, because they are not true nuts, but seeds. Would that make a difference? In any case, iiwm I would soak them for 6 hours, then dry them at around 150 degrees. Doesn't NT usually have you dry nuts in the oven at around that temp anyway? Maybe my memory is failing me...

thanks for the reply! I just soaked them for 6 hours since they were expensive and I don't want them slimy and ruined. I dry my nuts in the dehydrator at about 112 degrees normally, so that's what I'm doing with the cashews. Hopefully it will be OK. I know Wilderness Family Naturals sells raw cashews soaked and dried at low temps, so it must be possible to do without the slime. I've never made crispy cashews because I'm intolerant of them. DS discovered cashews when visiting my parents, and LOVED them. They were roasted in peanut oil with sea salt. I'm trying to make a healthier version (though those could have been worse). If he doesn't like them, then I'll try toasting them in the oven with some oil and salt.
