Exercise Accountability Thread for Jan '08 Mamas! - Page 4

I tried exercising last night. See, I won't be doing that again! :
But seriously, as of today, I need to walk a couple times a day. Originally it was because I was going off the low molecular weight heparin, but the specialist doesn't believe I need to. either way, I feel better when I walk.

I haven't been walking since the weather turned cold. : Early morning at the mall sounds like a fantastic idea, but somehow sleep sounds better! Right now, I'm so busy power cleaning/organizing the house that I feel like I'm getting a pretty good workout every day.

Working FT, commuting 2 hrs/day, coming home to dinner, chores and the bedtime routine, I don't have time to exercise. I can barely keep up with my daily responsibilities, nevermind! I have found it to be a good workout to just keep up with my babe - lifting her, climbing stairs, chasing her, etc. She and I did have a 45 min walk in the new snowfall yesterday though and it was lovely. I hope to exercise 20 min/day when the new babe is born with my old workout videos.

anyone out there still? i could only fit in 1 hour a day (usually late) during the time we had christmas company, but now that everyone's gone, i am back to 2 hours (though sometimes i poop out after 1 hr 45 minutes). really feeling the exercise these days, but grateful for it. and so thankful DH helps give me the time. i feel SO MUCH BETTER (physically and mentally) after getting a workout. i know the marathon is coming soon-- i hope this fitness has been worth it!

you're doing great, hcm! i bet all of your fitness will pay off in many wonderful ways.

my concept of exercise has scaled back tremendously. a couple of weeks ago i had several days where i could barely walk even a few feet. i tried doing arm streches and movements whenever i could think of it, but it was all pretty limited.

i had to work my way back up to doing nearly any activity at all. now i try to make sure i walk for at least 15-30 minutes a day. usually that's incorporated into some other activity, like taking my daughter to a museum. these days i focus on lots of stretching, hip rotations and the like. just trying to keep everything as loose and at ease as possible.

I was thinking of this thread last night as I popped in my prenatal yoga video. Kind of late to start back at it again, given that I'm due in the next week.

It felt sooooooo good to stretch but I had to do everything super modified. Wow, can't believe how "out of shape" I feel.....OTOH I'm just super huge with belly as I'm about to burst and birth this baby. Also my carpal tunnel is soooooooo painful and it's hard to do many positions because of it.

After exercising I had a bit of dizziness last night. Kind of freaked me out but I just sat down for awhile and ate a snack, it finally went away when I just went to bed. Anybody else have that after exercising? I wonder if it's from BP or is just part of pregnancy or -- ?

anyone out there still pregnant and happen to be exercising? i got very, very sick last week and couldn't manage my nightly 2 hours on the treadmill. i've worked back up to 1 hour and sometimes a little more, but i doubt i'll get back to two hours. i also dragged my exercycle out of the attic last night, and i've started doing some time on that to try and move my pelvis around some. trying to stay active, but certainly not as dogmatic in my exercise routine as before.

hope everyone is well.

peace,
hcm

These days just climbing up the stairs feels like excercising. I get so out of breath! I do feel like I should be doing more. Maybe I'll try some yoga stretches, squats, etc. today.

Hello, All,

I will have to say, I feel pretty guilty, I did not excercise for the first 2 trimesters. I did work full time on my feet, with a very physical job at Whole Foods. Anyway, in that time, I also had to pack up a 2 bed townhouse and move 10 hours away. That took a lot out of me. I am thankful, however, in the last trimester, I haven't had to work. I've used this time to walk on the beach most days 2-3 miles, and sporatically follow a yoga video. I feel like, I am in great shape, and ready for labor. I would like to do more yoga though.
