95% sure I am miscarrying

hi mamas. Today is a sad day. I am 10 weeks along and I woke up feeling abnormally tired. I took a 4 hour nap and as I was walking down the stairs, I felt a gush from my vagina.
I just recently went to the bathroom and saw blood on my pad (I wear one often for sneezy-pees!)
The blood was bright red with some clots, and quite a bit. After I peed, my tummy felt real crampy, and the fronts of my legs ached (Still do)
now after all this, and a wipe of more clots (the size of a dime)- I am beginning to feel really lousy, achey like I have a bad cold suddenly.
I plan on letting my body run its course, but can anyone suggest signs that I should look for and be concerned enough to seek medical attention?
Thanks for your help.

hi, Amy. I'm so sorry that you're going through this loss. I'm sorry about your baby.

I always tell women if you soak through two pads (front and back) in a half hour, that's too much blood. With a miscarriage, women bleed quite a bit and have intense cramping for awhile. Stay hydrated, rest and think about a cal/mag supplement to help with the intensity of the cramping.

I'm going to PM my phone number...

I am so sorry you are going through this. My two losses were incredibly different from one another - one swift and intense, the other long and drawn out. Watch the bleeding, and like Pam said, if you are soaking more than an overnight pad every half an hour, or you develop a fever you should seek medical attention. I remember talking to the OB on call with my second loss, the intense one, 4 times throughout the night just to check in and gauge how much bleeding was okay. That really helped a great deal. And I drank an awful lot of orange juice and water throughout the night to stay hydrated. Rented a few movies as I couldn't sleep . . . it lasted about 11 hours all together, then just a light period-like flow for a few days afterwards.

Take care of yourself. I am so, so sorry.

I'm so sorry.

Since you're in the first trimester, there's no reason to seek medical attention unless you want an ultrasound for confirmation, or you're bleeding too much/too long, running a fever, or having too much pain. OR you are Rh negative and want to consider Rhogam. But sometimes the contact helps. I'd like to wish you health and peace.

well, there was a fair amount of blood on the pad.
Now, this morning- I am no longer bleeding but feel very very crampy, have a headache and a wicked back ache.
I also feel nauseous (like morning sickness).
Now I don't know what's going on. Uggh!
I think I may go to my GP on Tuesday for an US just to find out what's happening.

Good idea, it will set your mind at rest. I had this happen with my last baby and spent an entire weekend mourning. Come Monday I still felt pregnant somehow... So off to have an US... Evidently I had miscarried a twin, but still was pregnant. So best to check it out.

With my most recent loss I bled/spotted/cramped off and on for over a week before I actually miscarried. I could tell the day I was going to miscarry, though, because I was cramping and bleeding clots and they were both getting progressively worse. Then after I the actual miscarriage of the tissue, I didn't bleed anymore at all. Over the entire two weeks, I didn't even bleed what I would consider a whole period. A sonogram confirmed that I still had a thickened endometrial lining, which the OB believes I will probably shed in the next couple of weeks in the form of a "period."

So the lesson in all of this for me is that every miscarriage is different. I really expected lots of bleeding and for EVERYTHING to come out of my uterus at once as it would with a D&C, but it didn't. It has been (still is?) a long process.

I think in your situation, a series of beta HCGs and a sonogram wouldn't be a bad thing, just so you can know where you stand in the process of pregnancy or miscarriage .

i'm so sorry mama.....symptoms like yours can be confusing. did you make it to an u/s today?

i've had 3 m/c, all different, and learned something new about myself each time. the last one made me strong, more compassionate and just a different person all together. but for the good. there is such a wide range of what can happen like a pp said she had lost a twin, and i've read many stories (here on mdc, and in books) of moms bleeding, clotting and cramping for a few days only to find out they're still pg.

i hope you have a happy outcome. we're all here for you.

well, my guess was pretty bad. I am still very pregnant, on the spot with dates and everything is fine. The U/s showed the heartbeat and lots of movement.

The downside of this, is I had to go to the OB office to discuss the results. Ugh.

Other than that- all is well!

Thank you all for your kindness during this stressful time!

lots of love!
