He's here! Opinions, please...

Okay, my baby boy was born last Sunday. My water broke Saturday night and I thought, I should sleep while I can, because labor will start soon! I woke up Sunday morning and nothing. So I went for a long walk and did some yoga postures. Nothing. Called the doctor and met her at her office about 1 pm on Sunday and she said that my water did in fact break and I should really have a c-section as there was NO change in my cervix whatsoever and I really didn't want to go for all the interventions to "hurry" and have a birth in the next 10 hours. I agreed to the c-section and everything is great.

I do have a problem. A name. Now, I don't want support unless you like it, I want the truth, especially if you don't like it and why. We live in Mexico so I need a name that will work in Spanish and English. (By work, I pretty much mean easily pronouncable). My husband and I really like the name Elian Alexander.

I have been putting off making a birth announcement until I get a name (we waited THREE WEEKS with DD). Please give me your feedback!

Thanks a million for your feedback! Maybe we can go ahead and green light this name and send out announcements!

Oh, and by the way I am loving having a baby around again...he only wakes up once at night...even my DD was nursing 3x a night at 6 months...Can't even beg him to wake up for an extra feeding (which my engorged self would probably appreciate!)

Positive baby/birthing vibes to all!

Not in a ddc myself, but congratulations!

Not sure if I like the name. I've never heard it. How do you pronounce it? I think I would liek it if I knew how to pronounce it. (I mean ELian, of course. I am fmailiar with Alexander, and i like it for a middle name.)

Congrats on your baby boy! I am not sure of the name and that is just because I wouldn't know how to pronounce it. Is it EEL-ian?

Yes, this is my concern! There is a popular name Elias "eLEEas" which we thought would make people call him eLEEyan but we had more in mind what you have, ELian, or even eliAN, but I didn't want to have a written accent. I am way too anally picky on this stuff! But a name is for a lifetime, right?

Sounds like Julian, but starts with El (pronounced like the letter "L" or if you've had any Spanish classes, like "el".) I've only heard it once, but I really liked the name, maybe some of you will remember the little Cuban boy in 1990 who came to Florida on a raft, half of his family fought to keep him in the USA and the other half fought to have him in Cuba. I think maybe his mom died on the raft trip...little Elian Gonzalez? Actually, though, that Elian had an accent on the last a, so it was pronounced just a hair differently, but I remember both my DH and I thought the name unique and nice at the time.
