With DS, we had started with a co-sleeper attached to the bed...that lasted half a night . Then he ended up right next to me in bed, touching some part of me (boob, arm, back, depending on how much I could free myself from him) from then on. He didn't get to the point of being in the same bed *without* physical contact by about 20 months. At about 30 months we could put him to bed (with snuggles or nursing) then leave till we went to bed later. Now at 3 years he can go to bed with just some kisses and hugs and doesn't wake during the night (most of the time), again we just join him when we are ready for bed. After we move in Nov we will probably actually buy a bed for him and transition him to his own as it's quite squishy in bed now and he seems ready.

Anyhow, with this LO she sleeps right next to me in physical contact or in the crook of my arm (half the time). I don't know if that would be considered 'on' me, though she is on part of my shoulder. Although she sleeps better than DS did, she seems to need more physical contact (arm around her) that he did, and I'm glad I have big mobile boobs as they can reach her mouth in that position too

But like a PP said, I would consider any of the first 3 choices 'co-sleeping'.

the issue with the stairs is they turn at the top. possibly steve would go for it if he saw your stairs. he is convinced it won't work. the multiple beds are working for now although dd is almost too tall for the toddler bed.

ah the turn! Yeah, that might make it impossible. LOL YOu should have seen trvis getting the bed up the stairs! It took him like 3 hours cussing and sweating, but then about 2 hours and 45 min utes into it we realized the bed was caught on the railing. poor guy, he was sooo sore the next day.

i consider any of the first 3 to be cosleeping. dd sleeps on my arm or curled up next to me. ds did the same for the first 21mo. then i moved him to a side car crib in anticipation of the new baby. about 50% of the time he has a hand or foot on me. sometimes he puts his hand on dd's head. it's so cute!
