OWWWW! Homemade deodorant disaster...help!

Thread Starter
For quite awhile now with complete success I have been using my own little blend for healthy pit aroma...a couple sprays of witch hazel followed by a couple pats of bicarb. It worked brilliantly until I put on a tight fitting synthetic shirt. Now I have a massive reaction going on....my armpits are covered in red, angry bumps and I have swollen nodes on both pits. This has been going on for a couple weeks now, and I can't seem to find much relief! Any ideas? I am not putting anything on them, except a little sweet almond oil with some EO's when they get a little ripe. I'm using a very gentle soap and no way is a razor going anywhere near me!

Please! Help my pits!

You might want to try a salt deodorant (those rock crystal ones). The salt is really good for helping to heal things up, and of course, helps keep 'ripeness' at bay. It CAN sting a bit if you have open sores, but that would be my suggestion. You could also try a little smear of coconut oil, or shea butter or emu oil too - they are all very soothing and have healing properties. Good luck.

What you are describing is consistent with a skin infection. The "nodes" may be swollen lymph nodes or abscesses, depending on exactly where they appear. Either would be consistent with infection. I respectfully suggest this is beyond home remedy. Antibiotics and draining of the abscesses (if that's what they are) may be needed. Skin infection can progress.
