CBE source materials and copyright questions

I'm not certified so I won't have paid access to source materials. Even if I did I guesss I'd still be curious b/c I see so much I want to share.

How do you get permission to use say...magazine articles or excerpts, book excerpts, illustrations, web materials, etc???

Is it something you usually pay for or do you just have to ask and credit the author/source?

Once you have permission what kinds of restrictions are usually imposed?

And do they address this issue in any of the CBE programs?

thanks mamas!

:

I saw somwhere that if you trace over a photo you can can use that. that might help for a "positions in labor" handout or logos but is it true?

and what if you just pass a book around in class? (not practical for a large class but maybe for one or two couples)

My basic format is going to be lecture style but i want handouts to emphasize my points and for reference for the couples. I was thinking of putting together a workbook also.

You MUST check out this website!

Janelle Durham, a birth professional here in Seattle, has graciously made a fantastic website, and WANTS you to share, copy and use all of her material. She has entire class outlines, handouts, everything!

Cruise around her site and use what you want!

If you email her, to tell her thanks, tell her Sharon sent you!
