JMO but I'd talk with your family dr more about this. Peanut allergies can be really serious.
Your best bet is just to get rid of peanut products in your home, just so you won't have to worry about accidental exposure, esp if she's so sensitive that she's reacting to oils on your hands.
Good luck!

I hate food allergies.

Maddie is severly allergic to eggs. She can't have anything with eggs in it. Do you know how hard that is?: She is also celiac so we eat a wheat free/gluten free diet as well. We make everything from scratch and the health food store is our best friend. Sometimes I get mad at the whole thing. I EBF her for 6 months then did solids very slowly. She weaned herself at 14 months when I got pregnant again so she had a great start nursing. But then she still has these darn allergies.

I would stay away from eating peanuts until she is not nursing anymore. I try not to eat any wheat/gluten while I am pregnant and nursing although I do slip up . I would also look into seeing an allergist. They may not want to test her until she is a year old but I would let them be aware of the possible reaction she had already had. You may also want to avoid other types of nuts in the peanut family. I am not sure what they are but I am sure you could find the info on the web. Food allergies can be a scary thing. Hope she doesn't have anymore reactions.

Yeah, peanut allergies are the worst! I have heard of kids at school going into shock b/c some other kids ate a PB&J and then opened the door and got a tiny bit of PB oil on the handle. I mean, I guess that's one more argument for unschooling:LOL

I just felt like I was doing everything right to avoid allergies, kwim? My parents didn't- well I was EBF to 6 mos but my first food was chicken! My dad got a kick out of putting what he had for dinner into the blender so my solids introduction was not that well researched and i have no real allergies. DP doesn't seem to rally have allergies. Every now and then he has some skin reactions that I keep telling him are a food allergy, but they go away before we can figure them out.

At least I know now. I will have to have a serious talk with ped. *sigh* I hate going to the ped and I have a good one who is really supportive. Still going to the dr.'s makes me feel yucky, kwim? Thanks for all the replies. I feel bad now that this thread has such a dramatic subject line since the drama is all over.
