Would I know if I "dropped?"

I don't remember ever feeling like ds1 had engaged. I am 36 weeks. I sort of think my belly looks a little lower today.

Could you tell when your baby dropped?

I knew with ds1 just by how low he felt and I knew he was coming out with a big ol triangle shaped heat (and he did). But with this one I can't really tell. Some days I think he has, and then other days I feel like he's climbed back up. I swore I had dropped for awhile, now I don't really know. He has never felt as low as ds1 though.

I knew with this one when the electrical shocks started down the inside of my thighs!!!

She was engaged (0 station) as of last Thursday and supposedly once they move past that point you are in active labor (what i read somewhere), BUT I swear she dropped more today. She is kicking lower this evening and even DH noticed that my lower stomach is really sticking out tonight, maybe the cause of the lower back pain last night, but it has eased up now. Too bad the heartburn has never eased up...feels like a campfire in my throat constantly!

I could tell because the heartburn magically disappeared overnight. That was a few weeks ago, though, and now that she's bigger and my uterus is practically up to my eyeballs the heartburn has returned.

I could tell engagement with my first pregnancy when:
(a) My walk truly turned into a waddle
(b) I could feel the baby's head with my fingers

see...this has always plauged me too because I swear my babies do not drop ever until labor...

however my first though is, is there a difference between *dropping* and engagement?
I wanna say there is, because some babies drop down towards the pelvis, but don't engage ( see my babies dont' ENGAGE until labor...usually )

At my appt last week my midwife said this one is still riding high, but just even the last few days I have felt her really low, and it's very hard to walk, like she is shifting south

I notice it mostly in the mornings though, by afternoon is seems she shifts back up?!?

I've been wondering about this, too. I'm 38 weeks with my first pregnancy, and as of my appointment last week the baby hadn't dropped. Sometimes when I'm walking around I feel the baby lower, but it usually ends up high again. I want to meet my baby! Argh!

Thanks Ladies!

I asked my dr. today and he said sometimes you can tell and sometimes you can't. He could tell by measuring me that I hadn't dropped yet.

My MW measured me at 40cm today, but confirmed that being able to feel baby's head with my fingers very easily meant baby was definitely dropped! I had felt like my shape had changed - looking down seemed more sloped than it had been. I hadn't necessarily expected it this early - I'm 36wks now, but of course it also means nothing for when labor will happen. I just don't remember when it happened with the first two!

I was pretty sure this babe had dropped around 37 weeks because suddenly I could eat again! Before then, I could barely eat a few bites without feeling horribly full, and suddenly I was ravenous and could really shovel it away!

He's dropped even more the past week - every time I see my mom she's like "whoa he's even lower than 2 days ago!"

Now if only he'd just slide right on out. LOL
