I went to Wild Oats this morning and got some Gripe Water. Maybe it will help with the gas problems Sean seems to be having... I'll let you all know if it works!

Yann has milk tongue too.
And a goopy eye. He had a really bad eye infection in the beginning. His eyes swelled completely shut when he was a few hours old. You could tell he was trying to open them when we would speak to him and he couldn't and it just broke my heart. We had to give him eye abx for 5 days, and the infection cleared up but he still has one eye that "leaks".

ANyone else have a super pooper? Yann poops (and pees) a lot, and can't stand being in a wet ot poopy diaper, so I feel like I am constantly changing him. I'm thinking about trying EC too, although I know DH won't be on board with that.
Now, if only I could poop on a more regular basis... sorry TMI -

I have been carrying him in the Storchenwiege wrap a bit. He just goes to sleep and will stay there for hours if I let him. I have a Maya pouch but he doesn't seem to like it much.

Oh the poop. The little guy had been pooping a large amount every morning and then he quit. For days. It was getting nerve wracking to leave the house and then. Bang. I usually fasten a prefold and then have been using a bsww during the day so he chose a moment when dh had diapered him - with a trifolded pf in a a wool wrap. Didn't somebody else mention that stain patrol seemed out of control?:

We have been using the MT since teniprice posted her pics - cute photos!!! - because I then realized he wasn't to small. I am glad to have the two shoulder support. I tried bothe the moby wrap and a woven and whle I thought they were super comfortable I didn't like nursing with the wrap on even if I took him out and it became too much work as he is a frequent eater.

On the thrush I wanted to mention that if you try to scrape the white patches off and nothing happens you are probably good to go but if it bleeds it is an indicator of thrush. I hope this helps some of you.

I had a beautiful visit with a friend yesterday, worth every minute of crying in the car (I admit to doing some of the crying). She gave me some gorgeous tie dyed diapers. I am dying to use them but I think I will pin them to the clothesline and take photos first. How dumb is that?

Dh has a long day on campus for the family all planned out and it is supposed to be 90 and sunny. Not my weather. Where is fall?

I almost took pictures the first time I hung all the onesies and pajamas up to dry.

Well I get to finally post on "the other side" That is exciting. I finally put on my Moby wrap and baby is snug as a rug in there right now. It's great. I have already used another one of my slings multiple times and it is great. Bu I really have needed to practice and get good at the moby so I can feel comfortable in public. But I have to say it was so nice to be able to play with my ds1 yesterday cuz I had baby in the sling and was hands free. I have the sling/wrap is going to make all the difference in the world to me and ds1!

As far as pooping goes...yes I have a pooper on my hands too. And my first child is still a big pooper 21 months later. It makes for a lot of diaper changes and washing. Sometimes it's frustrating but I'll still stick with cloth. And new babe is officially in cloth. We are using prefolds and flat folds with covers. I LOVE the flats. They are more time consuming folding, but they are sooo soft and don't require more than one and are super absorbant. Great for outings and overnights. I highly recommend!

I'm glad to see so many mamas doing so great. I enjoy reading and now posting on this thread!

I have a pooper too....and she's finally big enough to wear the super pretty carribean blue CASHMERE longies I splurged on (seconds..only new fluff I've EVER bought....well, besides some iunpf;s in a coop) and snapped one of the snaps wrong on the Kiss 0 she finally fits into and poop came up the back and onto the longies....Why couldn't it have happened in a prorap or a BSWW??? So I soaked in baby shampoo and washed them tied up in a pillowcase and most of it came out...Debating about sunning them bc they are so light anyways, it's on the waistband and I highly doubt I will ever sell them...they are too small and soft.... Dp couldn't understand what the big deal was when he saw me crying about it....:LOL:LOL

We had goopy eye for 2 weeks or so too...it's finally all gone..I felt so awful for her with her eye glued shut most of the day..I wanted to see her pretty eye and that she actually HAD eyelashes on that eye...We got the abx for it too and only used it twice....and just kept it clean with a soft wipe (need to get more) and it was fine...she liked the wiping of it I think.....but I am happy it's gone and that duct is working the way it's supposed too!!!!

DD1 has decided that listening to anything we say or ask is for the birds and highly unnescessary and I am slowly losing patience with it....esp now that the clutch is out in the car and we can't go anywhere that's not within walking distance....

It's like mid-July weather wise here this weekend and they haven't closed the pool yet so we may head down that way this afternoon.....IF I can get a handle on my Solarveil RS..I am not a RS lover but when I bought it for #1, they didn't make them MT style.....I just never seem to get her in it right...didn't with dd1 too....but baby and I wouldn't be there long bc of the heat anyways.....89 degrees today and 92 tomorrow they said...then nest week, they are saying low 60s for highs...yeah, my sinuses will LOVE that.....

I am trying to find the wrap love.....but I can't seem to get dd in their tight enough....Dp doesn't help much bc he doesn't trust a big long piece of stretchy fabric. Anyone have tricks?? She likes the kangaroo care hold.....all snuggled in...I can't seem to fold the shoulders right for the pockets for the other one....cross carry maybe?? I've been to TBW and looked at their links but just stare blankly at them....I can't find the book that came with my MOBY either (so want to get a Sienna one for working at a pumpkin festival end of month..)....

Anyone else gain a few pounds or is it just me??? I lost 19lbs and am now back up 4ish.....even though I am eating super healthy, taking walks with baby and nursing round the clock (except for yesterday which is a thread ppl have looked at, but not responded to in Breastfeeding...)....Just curious....

I took pics of the new things dd received....had to get things so much smaller than with dd1 (lots of preemie things) so I took a bunch of pics and Dp thought I was crazy...Can't wait to see the tyedye.....I would love a few myself and have the PF's to do it, just not the best dyer...never turns out the way I see elsewhere!!!!

She nursed twice after I posted that last night and snacked once..

This morning she nursed on the left side for about 12 minutes (give or take a min or two) which is normal for her (she's been gaining ok. 7.2 at birth and 9 at 1mo) around 830 and has been sleeping since....

She's going to need changed soon bc I just heard a loud toot and that's usually followed by alot of poop so....I am going to feed her then. It will be about 2.5 hours...

5 inches of snow?! I thought we had crazy weather here, I can definitely wait for the snow to start falling.

As for the thrush, I decided to give up on the nyastatin nonsense and follow the Dr. Jack Newman protocol, so far with great results. I'm washing the APNO off before nursing because it upsets his stomach, and the gentian violet has actually not been messy at all. I have to order the GSE because none of the stores carry it around here, but I've been taking acidophilus and disinfecting everything, taking vinegar baths

Liam had goopy eye about two and a half weeks ago, I just put breastmilk in it and it cleared up in a few hours. Its funny because after doing so I was telling my mom about it on the phone and she said "I know this might sound weird, but try putting some breastmilk in it". I guess the same thing happened to my brother and that's what she did.

Finally have a minute (or rather...2 free hands! ) to post overe here!

We are doing good. Ezra is 2 weeks old today...I can't believe how fast the time has gone by since he's been on the outside! He weighed 9 lbs. 1 oz. on Thursday...gained about half a pound in a week! He's doing good...just in the last few days started staying awake longer.
Big brothers are loving him! Sometimes a little to rough but they are learning. It is so sweet to watch them.
This is my first time to CD and it's going great! I can't get over how easy it is. Don't really know what I was expecting but this is awesome! I love it!
He hasn't had any goopy eyes, but we do have the baby acne. It's not to bad though. Breastmilk will cure anything!! Mothering had an excellent article on that a few months back.
Sorry to those who have thrush! We aren't having any problems this time so far but I did with my other two.
Can't remember what all has been talked about in this thread...I've mostly just been reading. I hope to be able to keep up with you guys!
Glad to see most of us are doing ok! I got down/sad a couple of days this week but seem to be much better now. I'm also sweating a lot!
Well gotta run...

Waylon's umbilical stump fell off last night. He is growing great--has passed birthweight already. I am considering a pacifier...no one else can soothe him at all and he watns to suck all the time, and I can't seem to get nursing down in the sling. Wendi--how are you nursing in a Mei Tai? We love ours, but I cna't figure out how I woudl nurse him in it. I am small chested--does that make a difference?

Anyone have any thoughts on the pacifier this early? We did one with dd from the start, and didn't have any problems, but I know we got lucky in some regards.

I feel like I am struggling a bit with my hormones/emotions. But, we haven't been getting much sleep. He is a needy little thing who loves to be held by mama only, and his days and nights are a bit backwards. I would love some tips on getting him switched around.

Its great to see all these pictures! Babes are so deliciously cute!

Hi mamas! I have not been over here that much since the birth, I loved seeing every else have thier babies!

Aurora is 6 weeks tommorow and at my Postpartum checkup this tuesday she was 11 pounds!! She was 6lb 11oz at 1 day ped check.

She is a great nurser and a calm baby, although she has trouble with reflux that is much better recently (she puked today, it's been almost 5 days since the last one. used to be every day )

Here are some pics of her:

I'm pretty much back to normal now, thankfully!

I would also like to know this!! We're going to Disney Land in 3 weeks (trip was planned and paid for even before Sean was concieved - believe me, normally we would not plan a trip to DL with a 2 month old...) and I really want to figure out how to nurse in the Mei Tai (Baby Hawk) to make life easier on our trip.

Have you tried a wrap? AFAIK newborns can be difficult to manuever in a MT carrier because they are so small. I have an ellaroo rebozo and nurse in it a lot, although it is a bit difficult because I have a bigger chest and need to use one hand to keep her nose from getting covered. I think it would actually be EASIER for me to nurse in a wrap with smaller boobs.

Rachel, I love Aurora's dark hair. It looks so incredibly soft! : What a sweetie she is.

And I totally hear ya on the enorged boobies. I don't even recognize mine anymore...

Apparently I am the possesser of the secret skill of nursing in the MT.
I got really good at it when Eavan was little because he wanted to nurse non-stop and I couldn't nurse in the sling. First let me say that my boobs are HUGE and I am not sure if that makes a difference or not. I nursed in the MT the other day while shopping and it worked great. I wrap Dahlia in a blanket first so she stays warm and so she fits better. I put her in straight down and tighten it up so she is right between my boobs. When she is ready to nurse I loosen the straps slightly to lower her down to boob level. I also position her so she is like one side of an X slightly diagonal, head at boob, feet at opposite hip. I wore an undershirt so my belly wouldn't hang out. I have to support my breast (did I mention how huge they are?) with hand on that same side. To get her latched on I lean slightly forward so I can see nipple and mouth, get her latched on and then stand back up and proceed on my way. When I need to nurse on the other side I just slide her head to the opposite side. I nursed Eavan this way too and he wasn't really a great nurser. Let me know if anyone has specific questions. I will see if I can get a picture of her nursing in the MT and post it. I love it because I can nurse on both sides without ever taking her out.

Rachel I had to laugh at the engorgement pics because that is about the size of my breasts all the time. (40F) Aurora sure is cute.

Dahlia is doing great. She has started smiling at me which just melts my heart. She is a total mama's girl and instantly calms down when she gets in my arms. She is up to 7lbs 6oz already and looks so fat compared to a few weeks ago. She was a month yesterday. Eavan seems to be settling down a tiny bit and doesn't seem so interested in hitting, kicking and swinging the Amby with her in it. We have all been passing a cold around here and that hasn't been fun. My dh seems to have it now. I think we are starting to find a rhythm and routine which helps so much. I am so sad because she is going to have to get a bottle this week and I really didn't want to do that. I have to get some dental work done and she will have to stay with dh. I have to pump this week so there will actually be something for her to drink. I wish I could wait but a filling broke so I have to get it done now.

Forestrymom we give Dahlia a pacifier occasionally but it is only when someone else needs to hold her for a minute (like while I am in the bathroom) and she is screaming her head off. We also use it in the car. It hasn't seem to affect her nursing at all and she will only take it about 50% of the time. It's funny because I would just rather nurse her and don't really want to give it to her but my kids and dh pushed for it because she would cry with them. Both my boys used them occasionally and they both naturally ditched them before 10 months.

I hope everyone is doing well. Sending lots of love to you all.
Wendi

Lactivist-thanks for sharing about the pacifier. I am torn on this subject. There is currently no need for it but I will have to leave the house to do some work at night eventually. So my dh would really like something to have to help calm the baby should he get upset. We never used one with ds1 and I was glad we didn't. But if it is something that could be an occasional thng I wouldn't mind so much. I would just rather see my sweet baby's face and smiles without one of those in his mouth all the time, kwim? I think if a baby has a high suck need though, they are can be very useful. I would just prefer not to use one.
