Hello, I like to crochet but I only know one stitch and since I learned it from observing someone and not from a pattern book I have no idea how to make all the cool stuff I see in pattern books. Thats ok though I know how to make blankets, hats, scarves and I have recently expiremented with stuffed animals which turned out pretty good.

Now that I am pregnant I am all excited to make baby stuff! Then I stopped and realized that by the time our babies will be wearing hats they will be about 6 months along and not infants anymore so now I have to resize everything I was about to make. Is anyone else planning on making cool babystuff? What kinds of things do you make? I only know the hat, scarf, blankie things. Does anyone else have any ideas of what else to make that isn't too difficult?

I do a lot of sewing, and knitting, I used to crochet a lot, but the knitting seems to have a nicer feel to its fabric for garments, then I use crochet for edging. I make cloth Diapers, DS's Halloween costume, Mama Cloth, and etc.

Last year for halloween, DS was "a cat in a pumpkin" I knit the black pants and tail and Ears for him, then sewed up a fleece pumpkin, attached the ears and tail, and stuck him in a black old navy shirt and he was ready to go.

I also make baby carriers.

I love that costume and the baby carrier and diapers are so cute. I am Planning on cloth diapering myself. Do you know of any good books that show a person how to knit or crochet different things. I need something that has pictures not just patterns. I learn much better when shown than by reading instructions. Even better would be a video instruction guide. Do you know of anything like this? I want to expand what I know.

For knitting, you can go to www.knittinghelp.com It has lots of little videos that can help you learn, they helped me learn last year. I am not sure for the crochet, since I learned that as a young girl, and my mom taught me.

I guess I should explain I started making them when pregnant with my twins but I lost them at 13 week gestation - but there's no point in wasting good diapers - so they're for my next baby - but I am only expecting a singleton this time - that's my feeling.

I have a bunch more diapers cut out (chloe toes size small) that I need to sew FOE on - JUST got my foe order. Waiting on my sandwich pul and 'regular' pul as well - I promised a few diaper covers for my friend due in a few weeks that I'll do first.

Cloth diapering is SUCH fun - esp if one sews them yourself!

Also, it's kind of cool to get weird looks from people when you make a comment like, 'my child is wearing the SAME diaper he wore a year ago' ROFL!

I expect to have 3 in diapers at once with this baby.

I sew, and so far I've got 3 completed Fattycakes newborn sized diapers, and I made myself a couple of bella band knockoffs. My plan is to have a complete stash of newborn and small diapers ready when the baby gets here, and mediums too if I can manage it! I also want to make a couple of sleep sacks and swaddling blankets, a nice diaper bag (I'm on the hunt for fabric for that; I want something really fun and funky), and various sizes of wet bags. Also curtains for the baby's room (although that's not really necessary, since it'll be a while before the room gets usedf for anything other than clothes storage).

That is a lot of sewing, yikes...

I am sewing for the new baby AND to sell... I know the overwhenlmed feeling. for the diaperbag, I bought the Hot Mama bag from Wired Up Designs... I know the Mama who designed it from another board and it looks totally cute.

and BTW, I still need to finish making curtains for DS1's room, too... lol... I had them done in our old apartment, but when we moved to our house here several months ago, he has three windows instead of 2, and they are bigger.

See, I might wind up doing the curtains sometime in the next couple of weeks, because I bought some super-cute fabric last time I was at IKEA and I'm just dying to do something with it! This fabric, the one with the multi coloured animals. I'm thinking curtains and maybe using it as the outside of a PUL lined wetbag to hang up somewhere, so it'll be all coordinated and such. We just cleared out the baby's room a couple of weeks ago so we could lay a new floor, and so right now it's empty except for a dresser and just looks like it needs curtains!

Yeah, plus she allows you to sell up to 50 a year without licensing, so I can add it on the sideline with my diaper business locally, and offer it to my customers...

It's not free, but the Very Baby patterns are pretty inexpensive and very easy to follow. I've made my DD LOTS of VB AIOs...

The RRP pattern is a free pocket fitted that looks easy... haven't tried it myself, but it can be found here: http://www.jordanpaperarts.com/tana/...et-Pattern.htm

It can also be easily adapted to a regular pocket... it is made to be closed with a single pin, but I have also seen it adjusted for velcro.

I am a newbie to sewing diapers too, and I absolutely can't cut out fabric to save my life. So I have been using the precut kits from diapercuts.com. They are coming out quite nice, but I will likely not do more than the 8 or so that i have already done. I found a site that makes custom AIOs for like 12-18 bucks each. Can't beat the prices, so I am doing that. I need to take a class in sewing.

I have made a couple baby carriers, mostly just for DH and a couple of friends. I am going to make a new one with this little one, but have to take some time and go find the right fabric.

I love to sew, and I have a whole slew of projects that need to be completed.....curtains, skirts, nursing shirts, wetbags, pocket dipes, covers, etc. I should get going on all this stuff!! I really have a heart for sewing diapers. Whoever would have thought that would be so much fun! I made all of dd's fitteds and covers, and now I want to try a few pockets. Oh, and if I may give some advice: Make all of the dipes you can before the baby is born!!!! I didn't do this with dd (thinking that babies nap a lot and that I would have some spare time) and I am STILL working on our stash. woops!

I've used the PooPockets fitted pattern (it's a one size fitted) and I thought it was very easy (even for a newbie) and it works really well!! I also use their cover patterns.
