How many still nursing and pregnant here?

Is anyone else really feeling like thay almost wish they weren't? I totaly plan to let ds CLW, but with this pregnancy, I am too tired to be up all night with him anymore. During the day, I can handle it, but at night, its like, just go back to sleep! We actually put him in his own twin bed a few months ago, before that he was in our bed literally nursing all night, and I was getting some wicked back pain. now, DH puts him to bed (after nursing) and then during the week, he is mine if he wakes, and on the weekend he is DH's if he wakes.

When DH takes him, he goes back to sleep no problem. When I take him, he wants to nurse all night asgain, and if I get to sleep at all, I wake up in pain. And DH refuses to do more than he is doing now.

Last night, I got fed up, and brought him to bed, but didn't nurse him. I don't know if it the right thinkg to do, since he screamed for several hours.

Should I be trying to night wean him? I think it would be easier if DH would just get up and deal with him more, but his excuse is "I go to work" I keep saying, yes, and I take care od DS, the house, and my business, all at the same time, this is less than you working? but he doesn't care.

I dont know what we'lkl do when the new baby comes... I told him, he will have to deal with ds1, an he sauys sure, but the new baby isn't gonna be in our bed. which I am still arguing. those first few months I would not have slept at all if not for cosleeping.

ok, enough of my rambling... anypone else in a similar boat?

My daughter is 19 months old and is still nursing. But my poor nipples are in so much pain. She is also pushing against my stomach and my stomach HURTS! Doesn't help that I am queasy.

How old is your son, tschecter?

My baby just turned one and last night he nursed almost all night long due to molars. It's hard, but somehow I am handling it right now. My boobs aren't really that sensitive yet, though. I'm sure that has something to do with it.

I really dread giving up nursing, and I am determined to nurse throughout the pregnancy. But, we'll see how it goes.

HE is 17 Mos. and i don't think he is getting any new teeth atm, but you never know, he has 7. meantime, I do want to try to nurse throughout, I just can't handle waking in pain, not sleeping in the first place, or being woken up all night anymore. he wakes up less and less often in the night on the weekends, I think because his daddy helps him back to sleep and obviously does not nurse. but dh won't help in the week, and I am stuck with either a screaming baby, or a screaming back and boobs.

I'm nursing my almost 4 year old. So far so good, I've had some pain but nothing intolerable. She has really, *really* upped the nursing since I told her 'there is a baby in mama's belly.' I was a bit worried about that, but it's calmed down some, although still more frequent than it used to be.

Who is planning to tandem?

I have every intention of tandem, but my ds will have to deal by then certainly that he will not be nursing at night... I can only deal with one baby in bed at a time. during the day, he can nurse if he wants after the baby does.

I want to tandem!!! My DD (2) loves her boobie! It's rough sometimes at night when she wants to stay on my nipple. I've already noticed a dip in my supply and I think that's what makes it tough! I feel bad for her cause I know she's trying to increase my supply. Poor Girl!

Still nursing. I expect we'll tandem since dd says she'll nurse until she's 8- at LEAST.

Still nursing. It was pretty painful for a week or so, but I am watching the latch closely and it seems a bit better now (I am telling myself that it's the latch that's changed, not my nipple soreness...waning symptoms make me paranoid!). I am open to tandem but in the same boat as tschecter...DS is going to have to be completely night weaned if I am to cope with the tandem thing. We are working on it now, with success varying by the night....

My 2.75 yo ds nurses a few times a day, mainly to get to sleep.

In the last week, he has really upped the frequency. I get the sense he's checking to make sure they're still there.

We haven't talked to him about the new baby yet, so I figure this change is either due to a supply decrease, or just anxiety that "something" is going on that he doesn't understand.

If he wants to tandem, I'm up for it, but I think ideally I would love for a peaceful weaning to happen before May. I'm just taking a day at a time.

Still nursing, but dd has been slowly tapering off for a long, long time. It has dropped to almost nothing the last two days. I don't think it will go on for much longer.

He's 16 months old and going strong. I nursed through both my other pregnancies, so no reason not to with this one. I tandemed #1 and #2...and want to with this baby and #3..I hope he holds out!

I am! I had to change his latch early this week though because the pinch was driving me nuts! He really loves his boobies and I can't imagine weaning him right before a huge change is about to take place in his life. I get the comments from family members..." Julie he's gonna be over 2, why are you not weaning him now?" And " Oh you know that it's easy to miscarry when you nurse when you're pregnant..." UGH. I wish people would just go back to talking about me behind my back because it's easier to deal with

Anyway, I hope his sleep patterns stay the same or get better. He's been going 8 hours a night with just 1 waking for quick nugs(bb's) at about 5am and sleeping through til 9..thank goodness because he woke every 2 hours up until he was 1...

I'm still nursing a 14 month old and I'm 13 weeks pregnant. My little one was up an average of 8 times a night. I was so tired it was making me sick, so I made the very difficult decision to try and night wean. She sleeps in a cosleeper beside my bed, so when she woke up that first night, I said "No no, night night time.Lay down." She fussed for maybe 10 seconds and I patted her back and she went back to sleep. This happened about 4 times. The next night, same thing, 5 seconds of fussing the first time, then no problem for the next 2 times she woke. Night three, she slept through the night and has ever since. If she'd been upset about not nursing, I know I would have nursed her and decided she wasn't ready. She nurses during the day whenever she wants, but this also improved her napping DRAMATICALLY and I'm just a happier, better feeling Mama. If she's still nursing when thebaby arrives (and I suppose she will, she'll only be 20 months old), then I will have no problem tandem nursing.

Still nursing my daughter, who will be 3 in October. She doesn't really nurse at night, just to sleep and during the day, oh and early in the morning. It's not unbearable so far, although it's hard.

I'm nursing my 2.25yo daughter. I would like to tandem, but dd really needs to cut back a bit, and learn some boundaries for that to work. Ah well, a lot can change in 8 months.

Merriconeag, that is great progress on the night weaning! We seem to be taking two steps forward, one step back here. My husband really wants to work on getting him in his crib for part of the night, too, so we are kinda doing two things at once, which maybe makes it harder...?

A question....anyone know about using gentian violet while pregnant? I interviewed a midwife last night and mentioned how uncomfy nursing is right now, she asked if it was possible I have thrush. Nursing is uncomfortable even with latch correction, and my nipples look angry (pink) after a nursing session. The thought had crossed my mind before but I dismissed since it would be very coincidental that I would get thrush the day after I conceived, since I get sore nipples every month between ovulating and my period. But the midwife said the only time she ever had thrush was while pregnant with her second child. So I figured it might be worth a try, if it can't hurt me, DS or the baby....

I'm still nursing my 24 month old. I've been nightweaning him over the last few months after my miscarriage because I wanted to be a little stronger for my next pregnancy. He's doing really well, he only wakes up to nurse around 5:30 now when DH is getting ready for work. I nurse him back to sleep then because I just don't wanna get up yet. He may wake up once or twice during the night, but I rub his back and he goes right back to sleep.

He's only nursing 2-3 times during the day and only on my left side. I don't think the right has anything left at all and I don't think the left has much.

My 21 mo son is nursing, too. He cosleeps with us and nurses during the night. My nipples have not developed that pregnancy-soreness yet, so I don't know how that will all play out. His latch is bad and he freaks out if I try to fix it, plus his front teeth are chipped and jagged so nursing is already very uncomfortable for me a lot of the time. If I can manage it, I'd like to nurse through the pregnancy and tandem when the time comes.
