Laura Moriarty has put out her second novel, "the rest of her life". As a mother, it is a pretty difficult story to read sometimes. I don't want to give anything away, but the tragedy upon which the book is based could happen to any kid. How the family deals with it is less interesting to me, perhaps, than just how ANYONE could deal with it, including myself.
I like her as a writer, but to be honest, I liked her first book better--"The Center of Everything."
If you lived in a small town in the midwest during the 80s, the Center of Everything is your next must-read book.
And I don't mean to discourage anyone from reading "The Rest of Her Life." It fascinated me, in a terrible sort of way. I still can't stop thinking about it--I guess that is the sign of a good story.
Just thought I'd see if anyone else had read these, and what their impressions were. If you haven't read them, they are worth your time.
