small stainless food storage?

Has anyone seen anything like this - like the tiny rubbermaid storage containers (4oz or less)? I want something not plastic to send for school lunches but don't want to risk glass or pyrex when I'm not there to supervise. I'm hoping to find s/s bowls with lids...

Answering my own post but FINALLY came across something
http://www.cooking.com/products/shprodde.asp?SKU=650705
unfortunately it's only in a set and I don't need the bigger ieces, but just in case someone else is looking...

A-ha - one-cup capacity, set of four. Perfecto! Guess my original googles weren't worded right!

Thanks for posting what you found. I had subscribed to this post because I was interested too...though I'm supposed to be no-spending this September!

Please let me know how you like the bowls, if you order them. How many would fit in an average school lunch box?
Thanks!

If you are in need of super small sized ones, Target sells a set of ramekins with covers. They are good for sald dressing, or raisins etc.

Are they stainless steel? I couldn't find any metal ones on their website.

yup, they are stainless steel. Cute little things. Maybe 6 in a set for maybe 5.99? they come with little plastic lids.
jennifer over at Vegan Lunch Box loves them to pack salad dressing to pack in those laptop lunches!

Thanks, I saw these when I did a search. I just wonder if the stores still carry them.

I found some by ??Nissan at Campmor.com last year. They're awesome. Both of my kid bring them in their lunchboxes almost everyday. They were around $15 ea.

I have fondled them a few times over the last year or so! Most recently maybe a month ago? I think they are a contant item - not one of those seasonal things. They were in the aisle with all the glass canisters, bamboo bowls, etc...NOT over on the wall with all the kitchen utensils.

Thank you! I will look for them the next time I go to Target. I used to use tiny mason jars for snack foods for DS when he was a baby, but now that he wants to hold the bowl I've been using Tupperware. Blech.

Thanks for the tips! Been looking for similar things for ages!

Crate and Barrel have them for $6.95 each.

Thank you SO MUCH for posting about these!!!! I'll be heading to Target for some, that's for sure! And I can even justify the expenditure since DH has managed to lose nearly all of my tupperware "midgets" and rubbermaid 4oz mini bowls (See honey, it's YOUR fault I had to buy them!)

Seriously though, these are exactly what I was hoping for, and the price is fabulous! Now, if only the laptop ,unch cases came in a non-plastic version.....

non-plastic portable food containers

Hey all - I've been looking into this myself lately for the same reasons as everybody else. I found a great selection and fair prices from www.pearlriver.com in NYC. My order actually just came today and I'm really happy with my choices. Small containers in stainless steel (including lids) or bamboo and good prices. Hopefully these kinds of things will become more readily available. Cheers! Christa

I bought the ramekins from Target today, and I'm not sure the lids stay on tightly enough for me. One of them doesn't stay on at all. Not totally happy.

Interesting site! Where did you find the stainless and bamboo bowls with lids? I'm not seeing anything.
