I seem to recall reading something before about the actual "threat" of disease for all(?) the VPDs is actually less than the threat of a vaccine injury. We went to a new ped today and while I really liked her, she was definitely pushy on the vaxes. We're fairly limited with our ped choices and the baby actually needs to go for another issue.....so we're getting the "she has a compromised immune system already, so she should really get the shots to help protect her."
I don't know what it is, even though I KNOW that logically it doesn't make sense to further compromise the immune system with vaxes, I just become a big wuss in the office and end up saying, well, I'll think about it. Even though I have no intention of vaxing. I did specifically ask her at the end of the visit what would happen if we do not vax (in general) and she said they wouldn't kick us out or anything, but that it would come up at each visit.
So other than saying "no, I don't want any"--I feel like I need a short simple answer that will just shut people up!! I tried today with "I'm not comfortable with what's in the vaccines" and she came back with something about there being so many antigens on dirty surfaces that are much worse than things in vaccines. HUNH?
Anyway, sorry so long, and I know people are wondering why we don't just switch or not go altogether, but we really do need a ped and as I mentioned, choices are limited. I really liked her other than this. And she wasn't mean about it; I'm sure she just doesn't understand why people wouldn't follow the norm.
