is there evidence for fast births= lack of complications - Page 2

Oxorn/Foote's Human Labor and Birth makes the precipitous labor/PPH connection, but of course, no studies cited that I'm aware of.

Anecdotally, in my apprenticeship I've seen the faster 2nd stage babies have more wetness in the lungs for longer than the babies who get a little more squeezed on the way out.

I had a lot of practice labor, so I was 3cm and 80% dilated before the birth. I had a 4 hour labor. No real complications, mec staining I don't consider bad, Baby had retained lung fluid, as I read someone else had that happen too. During the pushing she came out all at once, not head then body. This may be why her chest didn't get squeezed and pushed the fluid out. So after my wonderful natural birth in a free-standing birth center, nice gentle birth, she was blue w/o oxygen and had to taken to the hospital. : We were so unprepared for the hospital that they totally did things I would have said no to now.

Subbing in case anyone posts any studies etc.

I've had a 4 hour labor and a 2 hour labor... the 2 hour labor was extremely intense and I was kinda bowled over by it. My babies were fine in both cases- good APGARs, no suctioning, nursed well etc. They did sound a bit wet to me (not that I think it's a problem), but the ped thought they sounded great went I took them in for a checkup.
