I've made several dipeys with PUL and they all leak! The whole bottom half of his onesie will be wet after one pee...and he's not that much of a heavy wetter. What did I do wrong?! so sad.....

What do your diapers consist of?

and how many times did you run them through the washer and dryer before using them? The heat from the dryer seals the PUL around the sewn holes. I have some that I made (from diaperkits.com actually! ) that were leaking when I first made them and I thought it was the PUL, but it was actually just me. After about 3-4 uses (running them through a normal cloth diaper cold hot cold wash and full drying cycle) they stopped leaking and have been fine for months ever since.

Thanks...i think they might need to be stripped. They were kind of smelly, even right out of the dryer. I've washed them in hot w/ soap, hot-no soap and a little vinegar, then 3-4 rinses...i lost count. Now I'm drying them on hot. Maybe that'll help.

Some of the diapers are fuzzi bunz and others are ones I made from diaperkits.com and kaylas cloth kits...mostly flannels and fleece types, i think.

pul problems

You're no supposed to use vinegar on pul. I can't remember exactly why, but I think it ruins the waterproofing on the fabric.

You can also spray them with camp dry, it might help

When my covers got stinky, I stripped them by running them on a power wash without soap multiple times until I couldn't see any more soap bubbles in the agitation cycle. I'm sure that I was using too much soap when I washed them so I cut down the amount drastically and I haven't seemed to have any problems since. This also seemed to help keep them a bit more waterproof, as they were leaking a lot before I stripped them.

Is there a source that states this? I use vinegar in every rinse and I have all pocket diapers. I have never heard this before and know several people who use vinegar in their final rinse.

I have never had any leaks in my Fuzzi Bunz.
