Ah...I used to love "Untouchable Face", but now it just reminds me of a bad pseudo-relationship I had waaay back in college...

Anyway...Loom. I just like singing it. I'm not sure if it's my favorite...but I like it lots.

But my FAVORITE is the "hidden track" on Living in Clip. I roll every time I hear it.

I've seen her live twice...waaaay back in the day.

I haven't listened to her in such a long time, but I loved nearly every song on the Living in Clip set. I need to pull those out again!

I've had a few of her CD's for years, but for some reason over the last year I really started to get into her. Now I can't get enough!

Okay, I forgot a really important one. I saw Ani live on my 22nd birthday- June 26th, 2000- at Meadowbrook Music Theatre on the campus of Wayne State (in Detroit). She rocked, of course. It was shortly before "To The Teeth" (album) came out, and after a full and raucious show where everyone in the audience sang every word, she encored with "To The Teeth" the song. Virtually no one in the audience had ever heard it before, and all was quiet. As she started singing, I experienced the last of my Columbine fatigue, and I welled with tears and got covered with goosebumps. And that was it- no more encores, not even cheering. Everyone quietly, and sort of stunned-acting, filed out peacefully and went to their cars. It was one of the more intense group experiences I've ever had.

That song is so topical that I think it's easy to forget how relevant it still is.

Buildings and Bridges was the first Ani song I ever heard, my friend had it copied onto a tape. That was such a fun day, spent tooling around in downtown KC with one of my best friends in the whole world...I have great memories from that day. I was so insecure then, but building confidence daily.

Listening to it now...

I too like As Is. And Letter to a John. And Everest.

Leta, wow.

"Both Hands". It can still make me cry. Although "Untouchable Face" is fun when I'm a bit pissed off. And "Letter to a John", or specifically the line "I was 11 years old, he was as old as my dad, and he took something from me, I didn't even know that I had" really resonates with me.

I had a nearly identical experience at Wolf Trap in Virginia, with that same song, during the same time period.

My favorites are Joyful Girl and Overlap, but I haven't heard much of her more recent stuff, so I can't compare to those.
