Starting Labor???

This is my first baby so I have no idea what labor would feel like at all. Everyone says you will just know. Well, today I have been feeling quite funny and I have had several contractions in the last hour and pretty heavy back pain. I have also been having these vaginal twinges. This is different than the usual braxton-hicks contrax I have been having. No pain just very intense. The problem is that I start my 36th week tomorrow but I am only right at a full 35 weeks. If I am in labor, I can't deliver at home :*( Maybe the baby is just dropping and moving much more in the pelvic region. I don't know....any help would be nice. I am scared to drink any more RRL tea because I don't want to further encourage contrax. I have been just resting and drinking tons of water. Oh any one out there to give advice, I'd appreciate it!!

Lots of water, a warm bath and rest. When ever I think I "might" be in labor I always do that. I figure if it is real labor NOTHING will stop the contractions and it will get intense enough to wake me up.

Make sure you are absolutely SURE of your dates, and you are not further along than you think.

Stay hydrated and rest. It may or may not turn into labor. I had weeks of that with my 2nd. When it was real labor, I definitely knew, despite many nights of "Is this it???" up to that point.

i have everything you describe off and on, usually at night. for me each time i hope it is labor starting because i'm postdates but its been going on for weeks so i don't think its dependable. definitely what the pps say, lie on your side and rest, drink plenty, have some protein, don't overdue it.

with my first i knew without question when real labor started, even though it was mild. we were at the grocery store and i suddenly realized that i was having actual contractions but we just continued shopping. i had no bh contx that time but this time i've had them since a little past 20 wks and the real thing for me felt quite different, more like menstrual cramps.

best wishes to you. hopefully a lot of rest will help you continue for long enough to make your hb happen. (my mw will do a hb after 34 wks, so i'd def look into your dates and see if there is any question or see if you can fudge a little)

"Everyone" is wrong. : Well, I'm sure some women "just know", but for me it was more, "I suspect this might be it.... Well, now I'm pretty sure.... OK, I'm sure. This is it!" All. Three. Times. Each one was different.

And, because I have really long labors, my #1 piece of advice to anyone who thinks she might possibly be in labor is TAKE A NAP!!! TAKE IT NOW!!! YOU MAY NOT GET TO TAKE IT LATER! With my first, I was afraid if I laid down and relaxed, the labor would stall. By the time he was born, I was too exhausted to really even care. It's way better to be well rested, even if it means the baby waits a little longer to make an appearance. And, if the contractions stop altogether, it wasn't really time to start with.
