DS is enrolled at a Montessori preschool and has been going for about 5 weeks, two half days a week. He was upset at first and then seemed to like it very much and made a friend, but now he says he is sad at preschool and doesn't even want to go to see his friend. The Montessori has a strict no parent participation rule so I can't join DS even once week to share what he is doing and see if he is really unhappy or if it is just a phase of separation anxiety he is going through.
My dilemma is that a new co-op preschool is opening and I have strong feeling that I would like to join so that I can be involved more in DS's school life especially when he is so young and I have a chance to do so. What I am worried about is changing his preschool again (when he was 2 he went to a mommy and me toddler school, which he really enjoyed, and then we changed to another preschool which neither of us liked at all, an now he is at the Montessori). I am worried DS will be bothered by yet another change, and lose out not seeing his friend at school and have to make friends again (although we could always see his friend outside of school, I suppose). Does this matter so much in the short time he has been at this school, and at his age? Or does it matter more that he sees me at his school involved in what he is doing?
