Your thoughts on PPH?

This is x-posted. I was hoping you could tell me a bit about your experiences with your clients & PPH? I am a bit of a science nerd and get stuck on the 'why' and 'how' things occur.

I have done a lot of research and cannot find a good reason why I had PPH this time around--other than 'large baby' which seems a cop out. I wasn't at any particular risk, I didn't have it with ds #1 (and my placenta was YANKED out by the mw--damn that hurt!), I am healthy, I eat well, I take iron sups and my labs prior to L&D were good. My labor was pretty fast, the 'pushing' phase was only a couple of minutes--it has been suggested that because it was so fast that it may have caused PPH.

I had a tear (that I needed repair for) but otherwise not traumatic (and for what its worth I also had a repair for ds #1, again no PPH). In fact I am healing so fast this time, I would say this was physically (and certainly mentally) better labor all around. Here I am wondering......why? What can I do to prevent this in the future? It seems like I can't answer the second question until I know the answer to the first. I also read it happens in only 10% of labors.......

Thanks for any thoughts

PPH can be caused by even having a small piece of the placenta left in your uterus. This happened to me after I had my fourth child.
