Bus issues :(

DS spit on someone today. *sigh*
DD is having trouble remembering NOT to sit on her knees and instead to sit on her butt. *sigh*

I have to admit, I was quite surprised when the focus of the driver's comments were about dd and not ds. Usually it's the other way around.

I could really do without the stress of them misbehaving on the bus. The bus driver was very kind, but he did seem irritated with their behavior. (Who wouldn't be?) He said he always tries to talk to the parents about it first before he has to go to the school about it. I do not want my kids to be kicked off the bus. Truly, it's not a terrible inconvenience to drive them ourselves, but they enjoy the bus and I enjoy not having to get dressed before leaving the house. (I wear a pajama top w/ workout pants usually.)

How do you get the kids to just be compliant with the rules? DS is in 2nd grade, dd is in kinder.

Does giving them a reminder before they get on the bus in the morning work? If not, what about some kind of visual reminder. Like, give your dd a braclet to wear every day that is her 'sitting on her bottom on the bus' bracelet. Hopefully when she sees it, she'll remember.

My son is in 3rd grade, so he's around your son's age. I would think the spitting would be a harder problem to solve. It's more impulsive and seems like it could be done in response to what others are doing. Try some kind of visual reminder or maybe an activity to do on the bus. My son and his friends are really into looking at and trading Pokemon cards on the bus. Would that work for your son? It'd keep him busy and hopefully less likely to misbehave.

I'll have to try and see how things go. I only today heard of these issues. I wish the bus driver had spoken to me a couple days ago so I'd have time to work with them and see how they do. Oh well.

DD told me she hears something she wants to know about, so she gets on her knees and peers over the seat. I'll have to really talk to her about sitting down just like she's in her booster seat in the family van. My sil suggested rewarding dd for each day that she stays seated. I'll just have to ask the driver in the afternoons.

As for ds, he's always going to be a work in progress. *sigh* We're trying to work on his issues in the classroom already and now I have to add the bus to it.

*sigh*
