Sinead Summer arrived on September 3rd (Labor Day) at 2:56pm, after 42 weeks 3 days gestation! She was planned as a homebirth, but ignored our exhortations to come out, and her gestation (42 weeks +) went beyond the comfort zone of my back-up OB, and so my midwife suggested I follow his advice.
She was induced in hospital, but labor was smooth, and the hospital was relatively flexible with my approach to labor (each nurse passed on the mssage that this had been planned as a homebirth
). I labored primarily standing up next to the bed, and the pitocin was turned down twice, and I was able to deliver without pain medication. The endorphins afterwards were crazy fun!
Stats:
- girl! Sinead Summer
- Sept 3rd (42 weeks 3 days gestation)
- 7lbs 11oz (3.5kg)
- 20.5in (52 cm)
We are now settling in at home and very happy. Longer birth story later.
Thank you all for sharing this journey!

: Congratulations!! It is amazing that our little ones share our bodies for 9+ months and can be so stubborn as to not be on the same page as us and come out when we want them to. But, as you wrote in the "Still waiting" thread, some babies just do need a little more cooking time. I'm glad that you FINALLY have your little girl.
