Knitting/soaker question

I just finished knitting my first soaker!

I made it using the LTK pattern, which was surprisingly easy for a relatively new knitter.

However, I don't know how to crochet the edging on the legs.
The pattern says that the edging is optional, but since I don't have a babe yet to try it on (due in October) I'm wondering how optional this leg edging is.

Can you soaker-experienced mom's tell me whether or not I'll need to purchase a little hook and go at it? Or if the plain edging is fine enough?

Thanks

The crochet edging just finishes the legs of nicely, it's really not necessary. In fact, if you leave it off, it makes the legs a teeny bit stretchier (cause the crochet pulls it in a bit) so you might get longer use out of it since the legs seem to be the first spot that gets tight.

Advice from the source!
Thanks so much, Theresa.

Great pattern, by the way - thorough instructions, excellent pictures...I'll be checking out your other offerings!
